Re: Taken - New Movie
we'll just agree to disagree :)
Good movie. Didn't see it as competition to Bourn in any way. This is a story about an old timer, an old CIA operative who's obviously been kind of run down by life...not much like Bourn. Liam Nelson carried the part well, the only true disappointment is the character of the retarded daughtre.

Bourne was a character whose body and muscles knew how to fight before he remembered who he was; while Neeson's character was a fighter upfront.
you're getting into the psychology of the actor's behaviors, all I am saying the director of the Bourne series introduced a "style" of fighting that is ridiculously mimicked in this movie. By "style" I mean slap on a bond movie from the 90's and see how they fought back then and how the fighting style has now changed. From all of the movies I have seen and in my collectible memory, Bourne's was the first where this "style" of quick, short-throw, and aggressive moves captured my attention to the extent I now find nearly every other movie trying to copy it ...... and there was almost no reason it was copied with Leeson in this type of movie.
In fact I almost never saw Leeson as a fighter. I haven't seen too many of his flicks and the last one I remember of his was Nell. Yes that is probably not a fair basis for comparison since Nell is from the 90s but that probably what accentuated my opinion about his character as an ex CIA dude, which I personally felt he didn't carry off too well. There's too much sloppy affection in the movie with his daughter that obfuscated his bad boy CIA image.
