i liked ashton kutcher in this movie. he did a good job. i just hope they dont flake out with a sequel. the point was made clear in this one.

This movie was absoultely facinating. The prospect of changing th eoutcome of events by regression was totally cool nuh!!

#297795Post 5 of 49

Re: The Butterfly Effect

Yeah, sweet movie

I was skeptical at first with ashton kutcher as the lead role but he impressed me.

#298374Post 7 of 49

loved it as well. i was also skeptical but it came with a huge life impact ending thing.

The movie was okay, especially when little Tommy smashed that guy at the theater.

My problem with the movie was before Ashton went back in time, he never thought about that girl. Then he became fixated on her as if she was his long lost love, but present day he never thought about her. I think the director's angle was wrong. She didn't mean much to him later in life, then he risked everything for her, and we're supposed to be moved by his conviction? No, she wasn't very important to the protagonist to begin with; thus why should we feel like "Well done Ashton, one minute you're soaring through college without a care in the world, the next minute you have no hands." I know he promised to come back for her, but I still say The Butterfly Effect used a great concept for a wanky cause.

6/10

well if you have read the '"alternative reality", david ambrose' [which i iz sure that u will if u like those kind of theories.., Butterfly Effect iz like sunday walkin at the park... The book is much better coz not only give details about these theories but because the writer have create an amazing story whick keeps you up till the last page... I hope someday this book be a movie... coz its Wickid!!

Big up for David and parrallel universes

subtitles in spanish for divx?

#300636Post 11 of 49

pretty intense movie, although a bit over-dramatic. it's like a worst-case scenario of life in differnet situations as a consequence of one action. i liked it, but watching it was torturous. 7/10

Re: The Butterfly Effect

This movie really gives the saying "everything happens for a reason" meaning.

Loved it

#300951Post 15 of 49

I loved it! Have watched it 4 times since - fascinating ideas and story lines.

I do agree I hope they don't screw up by making a sequel (or 2)

Re: The Butterfly Effect

It was about time for a great movie, with a really nice story. Something that we haven't seen before. Unpredictable and interesting. Really good movie and i would really recommend.

Re: The Butterfly Effect

I thought the movie was just brilliantly done...... saw it over the weekend and I felt that the speed at which the movie progressed and the "cause - effect" relationship of actions to possibilities of the future in addition to jumping around them was simply marvellous.

I dont think he was fixated on his GF for any reason. He jumped back and forth in time thanks to multiple reasons (i.e. becoming a prison bitch / mom getting cancer / etc.). But he did have a natural affection to the girl because he couldn't believe that she died and he wanted to make sure that those close to him wound up in a better place....

However what sort of started becoming a little on the HUH ?? side of things was how Ashton started using his power like a Kit Kat bar i.e. at will more than allowing mysterious things to happen giving him nearly God Like abilities...... which I felt was pushing it over the edge.... and finally that baby opening its eyes in the womb and suffocating itself was just ruining the awesome plot the movie had built up....

but still its one of the better movies I have seen in the genre....

Re: The Butterfly Effect

and what genre is that?

#388601Post 22 of 49

Re: The Butterfly Effect

the genre of weird and whacky science that are embedded into the chaos theories / science fiction / parallel universes / if's - then theories / would you like me to spell that out for ya

#388668Post 23 of 49

Re: The Butterfly Effect

Re: The Butterfly Effect

i think donnie darko was better

#476800Post 34 of 49

just got done watching this movie and I thought it was great. I was thinking the same thing that clever mentions below... after giving her up for as long as he did you'd think he wouldn't have had the strong feelings for her, whether they were feelings of love or friendship.

I'm giving it a solid 9.
My problem with the movie was before Ashton went back in time, he never thought about that girl. Then he became fixated on her as if she was his long lost love, but present day he never thought about her.
