it's apparently still not fully finished and the woman making the film still as yet has no distribution.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
"SiC has been in production since June of 2005. Amy and Scott shot Europe for a month summer 2006. Filming completed in spring 2008. Final Cut completed late spring 2008. Speaking in Code will be submitting to film festivals soon and seeking distribution."

Looking forward to it.....
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
AHA I didn't even think to look on myspace for the film. Duh on me.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
Cool! Hopefully this does as successful as Scratch.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
Nice find Jeffrey. :)
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
Send your thanks to Beatportal, as that's where I found it. But I knew I had to share it with everyone on here. I know most of us would love to see this baby.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
I have been awaiting this for a long time. They requested me as a friend on myspace like 2 years ago.
Talk about hype lol
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
Yeah I went and got in touch with them, they quickly got back in touch with me. I've told them about our little music forum and all it's nice people.
I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this. Perhaps the closer it gets to the festival shows they have entered it in, the more they will show of the film on youtube.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
never heard of any of those djs or producers. i may check it out.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
You've never heard of the Wignomy Brothers. They are a cool dj/producer duo that really makes and spins some banging deep dark stuff.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
never heard of them. From what i listened to, it felt like it was typical self-congratulatory minimal music.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
Sascha Funke was also shown in the clip. He's pretty well known too.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
A couple Boston dj's represented on there. So you know it'll be quality
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
it's not all about minimal. Modselektor is more on the electro side i would say. it's a documentary about electronic music...which is always an interesting watch. Every since I first watched Modulations.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
i posted about this 2 years ago. i met the people putting this together. they are from boston and they feature some local peeps of course.
been following the progress for some time.

should be good alright
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
I was kinda wondering if perhaps you might have met these people Shawn. Hopefully they can get their funding with all the festivals coming up.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
This looks real cool. Very bias though it seems. A nice tribute to EM/EDM though. Too bad they are only covering a small portion of it but nevertheless encapsulating its essence.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
well don't get down on them for that. It's what the directors wanted to showcase. If they were to try to cover everything, you'd be looking at a 12 hour film.
If you are looking for a generalized documentary on house music, get on youtube and check out A History of House Music. Or you can check out Modulations for a generalized view of electronica and how it came to be through people like Stockhausen, Cage. Or if you want a nice documentary of Minimal techno, go check out Feiern...but you'll have to search that one out a bit.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
movie looks SiC! pun intendend. what's the name of the first track in the trailer? anyone know?
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
i think it's a modselektor track
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
i listened to modeselektor's album which they mention @ the end of the trailer and i didnt hear that track. anyone know who it is? sick track

in a 2 hour flick how much can you really cover? dance music is too diverse to cover all of it in one doc.
Re: Speaking In Code...Awesome Documentary of EDM.
i thought it was just a basic electro beat. didn't really dig it too much. I can't get into the fart bass sound anymore.

Thanks Jeff, I will most certainly scope them out.
ahh, a 12 hour film on such would be a dream come true though..:D

Apologies for coming across a bit obtuse and negative guys. I know it would be absolutely futile and dodgy to cover all EDM in a 2 hour flick of course -- and I respect the direction the crew and production are going with this one, no doubt about it.
I have not seen this, but I know it would be possible (in any documentary to EM/EDM) to at least briefly summarize, or swiftly touch-base in a quick way, most genres and quite a few sub-genres during a little segment of a flick. maybe I'm a bit confounded and hopeful but yeah, that's just my 2 cents tho. Best of wishes. Lata.
