Not sure how relavent tying up loose ends eight years later will work, but still a fan, not too sure those who have not invested time in the show will get it.

Re: The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008)

Just looks like a payday for Duchovney & Carter.

X-files was groundbreaking at the time, but ended so limply I'd lost interest long before the end. Hope fully this should tie up the annoying loose ends ... and then fade off into the sunset.

Re: The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008)

A bit fucking long for a sequel! From the trailer, it doesn't look like it has anything to do with the main conspiracy ... I think they'd be really pushing it to tie up everything with this one.

Re: The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008)

I don't understand why they waited so long to tie up all of the loose ends. I hope it's a good movie or I'll be really disappointed.

Re: The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008)

The 1st movie was boring compared to some regular episodes on TV and most time the money orientated efforts to bring something back which is long gone can only fail so I have zero expectations in this movie and won't go to Cinemas to see it. That's something for the bluray player in a year....

Early reviews for it are extremely bad.

Re: The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008)

^^ and maybe the real reason they made no press copies available claiming to do it to keep the story secret.

Re: The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008)

Carter is paranoid man. The rumor/story I read today, claims he wouldn't even let the actors have full scripts, so everyone literally looked like they didn't know what was going on in the film

Re: The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008)

So how many of us went out and saw it this weekend? I went out and caught it yesterday. It was pretty strange. Kinda like a much longer version of an x-files show of a continuation. The film, well the story was pretty fucked up, in typical X-files fashion. Queezy feelings were had quite often with the way things were happening. I really don't wanna be the one to ruin any parts. I will just say that I guess watching the shows all these years has really helped me decipher the film as it went along to pretty much know how things were going to end.

All in all. A tremendous film, great acting...especially from Alvin "Xzibit" and the other surprise actors that show up in it. The story was really weird and made me enjoy it...but it's not a film I will be wanting to see again.

There was shows that you could watch time and time again...either by their outright strangeness and unexplainedness, then there are the ones that watching one time was plenty. This was the latter of the two.

Re: The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008)

i'm going to go see it this week. I'm a huge x-files fan so i'm really pumped for this. this sat night tnt ran an x-files marathon in hd and it was awesome. i guess it was the dvd revelations which was a collection of chris carter's top episodes. not the top in my opinion but they were still good. and to top it off, it started with the pilot.

as far as it being a box office hit a.s.o., the studios and chris carter even said they made this for the true x-files fans so their expectations werent very high so they were happy with how it actually did...
