What does everyone think? I honestly haven't gotten around to seeing the last couple M. Night movies, but I think the previews for this look good. Plus I like Marky Mark as an actor.

Re: The Happening

I dont know man, the trailers for "The Village" were so wicked when I first saw 'em..... and that movie was a let down of epic proportions. And that shit.... lady in the pond or some crap..... what was the nonsense. I couldn't even see it for 17 minutes it was so retarded. Naked woman appearing in a pool and the wolf from never ending story running around.....I'm waiting till this hits Netflix.

M Knight Shamalamadingdong has been a huge let down. How they keep funding him is a wonder in its own.

Re: The Happening

i think a hit like The Sixth Sense is to hard to top ... thats his biigest peoblem ... but his films are good , maybe they dont feel as scary ... the one i trully didnt like was Lady in the Lake very very weak stuff . Very though reviews I think ill give him the chance and ill watch this .... we'll see

Yeah I think that's the bigger surprise than watching his movies! Dingdong is probably one of those types you either hate or love, and there must be a crazy bunch of fanatics out there who can't let go of 6th Sense and attend every new movie.

Remember reading a scathing review of the Village that observed Dingdong liked to make movies which exists in their own lil pocket universe/world, and is withdrawn from normality. Except his movies are never outright fantasies, and have weak plots that only serves to alienate Dingdong from his audiences once the veil is lifted.

Re: The Happening

wow, this was a bad movie, i mean the whole idea of the movie kind of started really good, but at one point it becomes really really bad, some bad acting, some stupid lines, i mean, damn, i had high expectations for this movie.

really disapointed.

#1035352Post 12 of 39

Re: The Happening

m night is trying to get over comments like that by saying this is the best intentional B movie ever made.

thats what usually always happens to his movies.

good ideas, good starting, everything else is shit.

only movie of his that i happen to really like is Signs.

#1035432Post 14 of 39

Re: The Happening

really ? I thought Signs was pretty retarded. The only good thing in the movie was the acting of Joachim Pheonix and the anti-semite.

storyline was really sad and without any real direction. just a snippet of the life of a pastor's family through an alien attack, which just saying it aloud makes it seems even more stupid. Beings flying millions of light years come to earth and start banging on doors to break in just to kill ? whatever happened to them laser cathode ray light pulse shooters?

Re: The Happening

It's sad actually that sci-fi and fantasy movies in hollywood are flopping. Hell there hasn't even been a good movie with awesome twists like Seven. People can come up with great ideas but fail to execute. I would one day love to see The Moon is a Harsh Mistress or River of Gods turned into movies - but only with the right directors and cast and with a timeline for production that envelopes quality in film.

I mean, whatever happened to flicks that elevated these genres to heights like Dark City, 5th element, Sin City, etc...

Bunch of god dammed pussies in hollywood with no imagination now, all riding the superhero bandwagon. It's a sad time for hollywood.

Re: The Happening

BEWARE: The Happening was a great, big, steaming pile of terrible...

wtf is wrong with this M.Night guy, what was he thinking?

I knew when I heard "It's just one of those things in nature that we'll probably never understand", at least twice in the first hour of the movie, then we weren't going to get anything resembling a logical explanation for what was going on... So then, I was waiting for one of his trademark cliches or odd plot twists near the end; and when neither materialized, I hated myself for even sitting through it...

#1036768Post 19 of 39

Re: The Happening

it was ok... the story was fucking retarded but there were some good/creepy shock factors in it.

#1036972Post 20 of 39

Re: The Happening

I happened to like the village...a lot. But didn't really dig 6th sense... Does that mean I would be more apt to like or dislike The Happening? The concept of it has me very intrigued.

#1036997Post 21 of 39

Re: The Happening

the concept is unique but extremely far fetched. if you can get past that, the movie would probably be ok. i just thought the idea was pretty stupid, though. the movie never explains why what started happening happened.

Sunshine was the last decent sci-fi movie I saw, but that had a lot of mixed feedback even on here.

Anyway Shymalan doesn't do sci-fi movies, he just does this weird out stoner shit that makes no sense and exist in his own little pocket universe. Even sci-fi has more accountable explanations and physics than Shymalan's little pinkie.

one of the worst high budget films I have seen in recent days...and as you all seem to wonder who financed it . . . it was ding dong himself.

I see not bad but the finish not frenetic.Maybe the second episode ??:D:D:D

#1139412Post 39 of 39

Re: The Happening

this is not one of his best films. The reveal is so obvious and happens not even half way through the film. Leaves the last half extremely predictable. Although the very last scene is somewhat rewarding
