Elle France editor Jean-Dominique Bauby, who, in 1995 at the age of 43, suffered a stroke that paralyzed his entire body, except his left eye. Using that eye to blink out his memoir, Bauby eloquently described the aspects of his interior world, from the psychological torment of being trapped inside his body to his imagined stories from lands he'd only visited in his mind.
Halfway into this. It's slow but that's the nature of the premise, and it's quite interestingly shot using some camera effects to mimic the patient's condition. The opening of the film was positively claustrophic when I watched it lying in bed.

And it's based on a true story, on the book that this guy wrote by BLINKING HIS LEFT EYELID. Fucking hell, imagine spamming GYY with your eyelid

This is a fantastic film.

Janusz Kaminski's camerework is so immersive, it really pulls you into the character, especially in the opening scenes.

Despite being centred around a tragic story it is surprisingly funny in places, and touching in others.

A real eye-opener.
