Re: Ironman '08

There're two Iron Man threads in this forum with lukewarm response  I'm looking forward to it too, the latest Superbowl trailer looks great, and I'm still a comic book junky :lol:

Re: Ironman '08

ditto to this: saw it during cloverfield. ROBERT DOWNEY JR, i said out loud? He looks ON FORM, imo. Can't wait, even though i never liked ironman in the comics.

Please, no gang signs.

:lol::lol::lol:

Yeah Downey is on form alright, he looks perfect in the trailer, one of the best casting in a comic adaptation.

Re: Ironman '08

This will be either really good or it will be unintentionally comical...either way it will be worth watching.

Re: Ironman '08

Good action film, enjoyed it. Downey Jr is perfect, and Paltrow looks great. Only gripe is the bad dude is kinda boring, and the finale was meh. But I think most of the film is pretty spot on and a good comic book adaptation. Watch out for the cameo trailer after the credits.

Re: Ironman '08

The Iron man suit was cool, good special efx and Downey did a good job. Overall a good movie, but not great. The movie ran a little too long for the story. I hear they're suiting up for Iron Man 2 already in '10.

Re: Ironman '08

It did feel slightly long, but probably because it had to cover his origins. I remember watching Spiderman 1 thinking Peter Parker looked like a dork for 3/4 of the movie, even when he was out there as Spiderman.

Re: Ironman '08

Yeah now that Marvel is producing all the movies themselves except an avalanche new films in the next few years, as for Ironman Robert Downey Jr. pulled it off in his own fashion. Much better than most of the other films, but Ironman is such an anti-hero in a way, there is much more appeal and dynamic to his character. Worth a watch.

Re: Ironman '08

Anti-hero is right, if you read the comics. Actually I was thinking post-movie, the recent run of Iron Man has a more complex storyline and the way they've scripted and written it in panels ... it would be cool if they can do that properly on the big screen though that might turn off a lot of people unfamiliar with the comic. Mainly I think the fight scene at the end of the movie could've been much improved and given more depth than just your typical brawl. In the comic, there's a lot going on in Stark's mind during fight scenes. But that'd be the bit that turn your typical cinema-goer off.

Re: Ironman '08

I really liked this film...I have to admit that this is one marvel comic I never ever read...I was always skeptical because of the title itself. I watched the marvel cartoon a couple of days b4 watching the movie and there was a lot of parallels and there were some things i liked better in the cartoon to be honest e.g. when he gets captured by the terrorists in the cartoon he doesn't just make up the idea to make the suit...it is something he's been developing privately for a while - suits for extreme environments: underwater, space, heat resistant...etc...Its funny that in that sense the cartoon is far more logical than the movie its self :)

P.S. I forgot to mention I thought Robert Downey Jr. performance was great.
