The Fantastic Four learn that they aren't the only super-powered beings in the universe when they square off against the power Silver Surfer and the planet-eating Galactus.

Whoa! If this is done properly, it's going to kick the ass of every single superhero movie ever made

I think that's been said of every single superhero movie ever made too...

Semi-related question for the other comic book nerds around here - did anyone ever read the Infinity Gauntlet series? It was a four or five issue storyline that Marvel put together ages ago. The plot revolved around this badass glove that Thanatos somehow got and it allowed him to be pretty much invincible. He ended up killing every single good guy in the Marvel universe one at a time - this ringing a bell for anyone?

Always thought that would make a kick ass movie, if done properly of course.

Come on, Galactus and Silver Surfer? Which other movie can beat that?

yeah baby! remember this. It came out back when I was into comics, back when spawn came out and good olde jim lee put his mark on the xmen series. too bad everyone rags on rob liefeld because i thought his pens were some of the best shit out there during his youngblood days for image. that stuff was in full force back in the early 90s when i loved comics..

the movie ended abruptly imo, could have been alot better. i thought the casting wasnt half bad though, too bad the writing could have been better.

jessica alba = perfect :) michael chiklis = the commish = vic mackey = decent casting dr doom = julian mcmahon = dr christan troy = pretty boy = good casting

Jim Lee > Todd McFarlane > Rob Liefeld

LOL! Liefeld couldn't draw his way out of a paper bag. I mean, how many lines can you draw on one page to simulate action? It's the same as crappy Anime. LAZY!

Awesome! I always liked Silver Surfer and hoped they would make a movie about him and Galactus. Who would play them?

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

I saw the trailer and it looks like he takes the human torch out into the atmosphere, extinguishes him and lets him fall. In this movie is the surfer the bad guy? Whats the storyline behind his part in the movie. I'd hate to see them cast him as the bad guy and then have the FF beat him. He could take them all at once and destroy them.

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

Silver Surfer was the "bad guy" early on in his superhero career because he became Galactus' lackey in order to save his homeworld. As Galactus' lackey, he was brainwashed into scouting for new worlds to feed Galactus, and that's how he stumbled upon Earth. When he first met the Fantastic Four, they were on opposing sides, but later on he met some blind girl on Earth and he was convinced to shake off Galactus' shackles. That's what I remember from the comics, the movie will probably be different

Just saw the trailer and Surfer definitely didn't used to go through solid objects like that

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

and will Galactus make a debut?

#780253Post 18 of 31

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

ohhhh. I'm thinking of him as he is now, didn't think of him when he was with Galactus. I'd love to see Galactus in the movie. Yea that going through solid objects thing was out of nowhere. I'm pretty sure the surfer could have quickly maneuvered his way around any of those objects.

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

They done the Silver Surfer pretty well though, pretty much how I imagine he'd move (like some liquid metal) from reading the comics. Yeah him doing some fancy manouvering on the board in the traffic sequence would've been wicked.

Think Galactus is slated/rumored to make an apperance but no actor pegged for that. Also if the movie tries to follows the original story, there won't be enough room in one movie for the both of them. And Doom is coming back. I reckon this movie focuses on the Silver Surfer and Doom, and Galactus makes an appearance at the end which sets up for the sequel.

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

Surely someone else has seen this? No reports?

It was a pity most of Silver Surfer's screen time in the movie is pretty much what was shown in the trailer, and there's not much for him in the movie. The story was mediocre and the action was mediocre except for the chase scene. But the movie swung between entertaining and good.

Except for the ending which sucked galactic balls. I was really hoping to see Galactus, not that ... apocalyptic galactic dust mite vaccuum cleaner shit.

And Stan Lee in cameos are wearing thin. He should spend more time making sure these Marvel films are on point.

I heard about this.....is why I haven't seen the movie. I'm beginning to not want to be disappointed when I go see these movies. Destroying too many young memories.

Dumb. Jessica Alba can't even get me to watch this, and that's saying a lot.

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

i was lucky to have caught this for free .. to some it up theres nothing fantastic about the Fantastic Four ... maybe only the start of the scene where they fired missiles at Silver Surfer

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

I have a shirt with silver surfer on it, the movie is just fine but jessica alba's new look is a little weird, i like her brunette..

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

Jessica Alba was damn fine, but the rest of the movie was not so good. They should have given all of the characters a bit more attitude and made it darker instead making everything so soft and comfy.

The special effects & .............

ANYTHING ELSE IS INTERESTING????

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

I actually thought this movie wad pretty good. It's better than the first one, but not a great movie. I would say it's worth watching if you have an interest in the comic book or Jessica Alba.

My only disappointment was that they didn't do enough with the Galactus charcter or lack of.

Just saw the movie, the Sandman effect was excellent other than that, a limp wrist:(

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

there are two types of comic movies:

 1. good ones that with real plots that don't just try to suck in an auidience (i.e. x-men, spiderman)
 2. bad ones that are rushed out with crappy plots and cheesy acting (i.e. ghost rider, catwoman .. uhhh)

this falls in the top half of category two i'd say.
