Anyone else know about this film, i read about it on Resident Advisor @ http://www.residentadvisor.net/news.asp?ID=8294

I can't wait to purchase this but for one...it's really hard to order from Germany. and 2...it's a PAL format DVD. Which means it could work and then it couldn't work on my DVD player. I'd then have to find a place to convert it. ?Feiern? DVD/CD (Ricardo Villalobos, Andr? Galuzzi, Ewan Person)

As we previously reported the documentary film by Maja Classen about Berlin?s subculture entitled ?Feiern (don?t forget to go home)? presents people whose nights don?t stop for 72 hours. Their stories are about tenderness, excess, and self-destruction. About the search for happiness and the fear of being alone. It?s a portrait in 19 conversations with Ricardo Villalobos, Andr? Galuzzi, Ewan Person, Carsten Klemann, Nick H?ppner, Inga K?nigstadt?, 56 nights, and 13 tracks.

Berlin 2005: Techno has returned underground ? and lives more excessively than ever. And once again the city has become the place to be for those who want to go all the way. ?Feiern? shows them getting down ? sweaty, dazed, deliriously happy. People who dedicate their lives to music, clubs and drugs talk about their experiences. They tell stories of self-destruction as well as tenderness. And every one of them is about the search for happiness: about that perfect moment of collective ecstasy, about the right record being played at the right time, about talking for eight hours to a complete stranger, who you adopt as your best friend ? for the night. Or about how it feels to walk into a darkroom and become ?a mere piece of meat, to be used and use others?. The conversations add up to the portrait of a family and make ?Feiern? the melancholic homage to a subculture that continues to celebrate until, finally, a simple cough turns into pneumonia, and a blackout leads to psychosis. In Berlin, says Ewan Pearson, a DJ and producer from London, somebody could bang a wooden spoon on a saucepan- as long as you did it in time, nobody would go home. With a smile he advises his friends: ?Don?t forget to go home!?. They might not. And rave on happily ever after. Re: Feiern

Been trying to get it. I just keep finding these clips of it. Looks pretty fucking awesome. Unfortunately it can only be purchased from Germany, and the postage out of there to the US is astronomical. That and it's a PAL format. And my dvd will not play those types of DVDs.

Anyone got any ideas how to get one from Germany without paying those killer prices for shipping???

Re: Feiern

would anyone by chance have the english version of subtitiles ? I downloaded it couple of days ago, but without subtitles.. and there's a lot of german talking..

Re: Feiern

you downloaded it...where the hell did you find it. I'm waiting on my dvd to come. Should be here tomorrow.

Re: Feiern

Yeah where did you download it from? I tried BT but Feiern is a common word, the full title doesn't turn up anything. Try googling for subtitles, there are some websites to download subtitles from, but I'd think Feiern is a pretty "underground" or niche film and it'll be tough finding the subs.

found it on a local DC++ hub. yeah, thought about that too, damn too niche film... put it in my slsk share folder, but don't get too exited, coz I have a shitty connexion... i'll try to split it for a free upload server.. will take some time though..

Re: Feiern

hell i should be receiving my copy in a day or two...not too keen on sharing it though...when you spend $40.00 on a dvd, you're a bit offset on sharing it for free.

Ya know.

Re: Feiern

would ask you for that, but i got my version with the box and the nice little book that I cannot read yesterday. Digging the video.

The film is definitely documentary style. With it's spots of music with video of these people parting, you get to see video of Villalobos, Vath, Luciano, Pearson hanging out. You get to hear these people talk about how small and compacted the scene is there in Berlin. How people are more sexually free in these dark clubs. You sit down by yourself...next thing you know you are being droped by some other guy. So you decide to make out with him...next thing you know he's going down on you...it really makes your mind go a bit nutty for a moment when they start speaking about all the weird sex that is happening in the clubs.

There is a whole section where the interviewees are speaking about their drug experiences and how they've changed their lives.

It's a great film. I really dug it. I'm looking forward to watching it many more times. I just kinda wished that there would be more music in with the interviews...it doesn't have to be loud in those spots...and with minimal...you can talk over it very easily.

The cd that comes with it has got all the tracks that are in the film. Both have got great covers printed on the cd's.

If you don't know German...and don't have subs...you're not going to enjoy this much. As there is only like 4 people in this that speak english, and those are the dj's.
