was the pamela anderson scene a set up?
It must have been otherwise surely her security would have been onto him in a flash, not waited till the car park. If so then it is the best bit of acting she has ever done, and still fucking funny!!

Re: Borat

I've yet to see it, and am planning to go this week. Was there old material scattered throughout the movie from the Ali G show or is the entire movie new material?

Re: Borat

i have gone to the theater 3 times, bought tix, and left to go to a bar without seeing it....

today. i have to go today.

#750665Post 20 of 34

Re: Borat

Although it is a great movie and you'll enjoy it no matter what, I would strongly recommend seeing it at a time that there is likely to be as many people in the theater as possible. It's that type of movie...

Re: Borat

I simply hated that movie, I thought it was obnoxious, defamatory and apart, from 2-3 funny parts, pretty boring

#750749Post 22 of 34

Re: Borat
I thought it was obnoxious, defamatory
No qualm with the obnoxious part, but in what way was it defamatory? Although it is, in part, a movie about racism, it is not a racist movie, any more than it is anti-semitic, sexist, or any of the other social ills that get mercilessly lampooned. Quite the contrary -- it ridicules, in biting fashion, the people who hold such beliefs and who, IMO, fully deserve to be ridiculed.

If you didn't like the movie, hey, that's certainly your prerogative and I'm not here to tell you what you should and shouldn't find funny. If you thought it was defamatory as to any particular group, though, you might have missed the point.

#750810Post 23 of 34

Re: Borat

no, no, I know it's all about racism and on that point I think it's well done. what I don't like is that it uses extremes out of a certain context without explaining things. Obviously ridicule is a major theme here and Baron Cohen is known for it - I've taken that into account. I don't like the idea of taking old stuff and humorous sketches that have been done and just pushing thm further without making any point at all I am aware of the fact that I'm alone on that one...

Did she learn of his antics in advance? Yep, claims Anderson. "I love Borat ... Of course (Sacha) and I planned this years ago," she wrote in a recent post on her Web site. "And it turned out perfect -- I'm so happy for him."

Re: Borat

i just got abck. i loved it, but it was overrated for me personally, a lot of ppl were telling me it was crazy. there were some seriuos side splitting moments, and those frat kids might as well go gay., cuz aint ever seeing a vagine again. and that rodeo dude..... wow....

oh yeah,.... the fight..... holy shit.

great, but jackass had me laughing more if that means anything.

Re: Borat

Funny bits, but on the whole, I thought the movie was in bad taste. Guess I have a lousy sense of humor.
