Re: 300

Re: 300

not as good as expected...a disappointment, but probably because I expected another sin city...

p.s. the comic book is much better than the film..imo

Re: 300

Re: 300

both comics drawn by miller...both equally hiped upand both attepted to bring the comic book alive...i.e. not done as a film The main difference is the skill of the director in my oppinion, and some of the acting in 300 is a bit over the top and un realistic.

Re: 300

Finally got the chance to see this on Saturday and WOW! What a great movie. I was a little worried that the CGI would be annoying and make things "fake", but I was wrong, it was really well put together. I also knew nothing about the Greek mythological story behind this movie going in, so the ending really surprised me...it was even a little sad.

Oh and when his wife stabs that guy, awesome!

#837939Post 54 of 85

Re: 300

^^me too...i didnt know too much of the details behind the old story except the basics. the part where she shows him whos boss was pretty kick ass. i thought it was strange though that they they seemed to respect their women so much, but she/they let him get away with talking to her like that even though she was the queen. you would think she would have been able to say "off with his head" and that would have been that.

Re: 300

from an average guy point of view the movie was PWNAG3... now from a serious critical point of view it was just: lame

300 Spartans movie great movie

300 is a great movie full of visual effects and graphics which made it different and much better. Acting was great, director did a wonderful job and chose great actors, and it is based on a true story.

Re: 300

pretty stupid movie unless you love fantasy stuff

#847327Post 66 of 85

Re: 300

This is the best movie that im see in the past 10 years so far. Best srceen and audio work and also the story and the different between the perfect (spartans) and something grotesk (persians) is what the director show really good. Yes and Frank Miller RULEZ.

#848494Post 67 of 85

Re: 300

found it entertaining, could have done without the narrator. well done, but didnt think the plot was that strong. loved a lot of the visual effects though. 3/5

Re: 300

I just finished 300. After all good words for this movie I must say i am disappointed. This is to much fantasy for me (i dindt like sin city also).I was expecting litlle more realistic movie with good visuals. Immortals hmmmm....not my cup of tea....

#848790Post 70 of 85

Re: 300

^^obviously you must not know that this is based off of a graphic novel. the movie looks like the graphic novel and is supposed to have some fantasy element to it.

my m8 talked it up like it was the most violent film he had ever seen so i watched it and i just thought it was god dam tame, 1 out of 10 for me

Re: 300

It was hyped up a lot but I still thought it was a decent movie - and they did a really good job with making it look like the graphic novel in live action...

Re: 300
I was visually mezmerized the whole movie. I agree that it cant be compared to Sin City, but it fits nicely in the recreated histocrical events / wars that changed the world such as Troy, Alexander, Gladiator, Kindom of Heaven, etc. The fight scenes hands down were awesome. The slow motion, high contrast look is sweet. The other world / underworld type characters were very imaginative with lots of fantasy. My only criticism was the sex scenes. I thought the overglorified boob bounce and getting from the back was a little dis-tasteful, especially in a theater full of a bunch of high school kids. The movie also left me wanting more. The final ten minutes I thought fell short and came to a grinding hault. Looking forward to a hopefull directors cut / 45 minutes of bonus material / extended scenes. Two thumbs up for sure, I wasnt let down, almost want to see it again- in IMAX.
What he said.... this is pretty much what I was about to put down and I ran into your review jarble. Fantastically put. And yes the end did leave me wanting more. To quick too soon.

^^^^Four and a half more weeks till the DVD release (July 31st). Cant wait to crank it up on the home system.

Re: 300

The other thing I wish they could've improved in the movie were the "scenic" effects. Too dull too dark through the course of the entire movie. They could've easily brightened the daylight shots or even offered a little more distinction/effect on the sides of the hills where they fought the battles. All was too much of a blur.
