Re: Dexter - Season 1

been meaning to check this out properly, i saw about 10 mins of the 2nd episode and it looked twisted, showtime is stepping their game up with this fall lineup.

Re: Dexter - Season 1

i dont have showtime but i caught the first episode in a seattle hotel room a couple of weeks ago, and liked it a lot. thought about downloading the torrents for the episodes, but ive decided to pick up the book its based on (darkly dreaming dexter by jeff lindsay) and read that... then get the dvds when they come out

See I didn't know this bit when I watching the second episode -- so that part was very disturbing... I'm really looking forward to what comes next with the Ice truck murderer....

Nice to know about the book, I'll have to check that out for sure

Bugger... showtime doesn't let you view their site if you're outside the US.

Re: Dexter - Season 1

ya i gotta say i like him in this role alot better than his whiney, bitch-ass character on 6 feet under.

#730683Post 9 of 204

Re: Dexter - Season 1

^^^lol non the less it was a role played very well by him :D

Re: Dexter - Season 1

still keeping up with this one? i am, and i really like this show. the character development has built nicely and all of them are well defined and convincing. plus the storyline is cool and interesting. showtime is pumping out the goods right now.

Re: Dexter - Season 1

i even went out and bought the book, sat on a bus for several hours today so i had time for some reading. so far the book is very good..

edit: its amazing how close they have made the serie to the book, very well done! i usually doesnt like to see films or series when ive already read the book but this time its more than ok.

Re: Dexter - Season 1

so this has nothing to do with dexters secret lab? i just think of that sat morning cartoon when i see this thread title get bumped up

#772292Post 14 of 204

Re: Dexter - Season 1

unless dexter's laboratory was about a sociopathic serial killer, it is completely the opposite.

#772298Post 15 of 204

Re: Dexter - Season 1

^^now that would be a saturday morning cartoon I would get up in the morning to watch

Re: Dexter - Season 1

So how gruesome/graphic does this get?

The book sounds good though. Opening line from Amazon:

"MOON. GLORIOUS MOON. FULL, FAT, REDDISH moon, the night as light as day, the moonlight flooding down across the land and bringing joy, joy, joy..."

#772306Post 17 of 204

Re: Dexter - Season 1

its not too gory. the story is good enough it doesnt need a million dollars in fake blood splashed all around.

#772311Post 18 of 204

Re: Dexter - Season 1

Cool, sounds worth checking out, both the show and the book.

#774359Post 19 of 204

#796821Post 21 of 204

Re: Dexter - Season 1

dont think season 2 is even close to being shot yet. will probably be a while.

#796830Post 22 of 204

Re: Dexter - Season 1

then i see why it seems like forever :)

that sucks.. i will probably have read that book long before its even close to be aired then.

Re: Dexter - Season 1

just finished reading Darkly Dreaming Dexter last night. pretty good book. the author brings you deep within dexters mind. he is one twisted individual (dexter that is)

having read the book i'm quite interested in reading the one previous to "darkly dreaming" and i noticed a new one is coming out this summer. good news as i am now hooked. :D

Dexter

Anyone watch this show?

A lot of former OZ casts (nowadays where are they not) and Six Feet Under.

Very twisted show about a dectective who takes out the trash by killing the murderers in his investigations, all the while having a serial killer toying w/ his every move.

Season 1 just finished. Great show IMO aside from some bad acting played by Dexter's sister.

Showtime series, get on it!

Dexter

Anyone seen this? About a guy working for the Miami Police as a blood investigator, looks at crime scenes to determine how a victim was killed judging from the blood splatter. But at night he goes around and himself kills people, but the weird thing is that he has this morale, a codex if you will. He only kills "bad people" and not people who have killed to get even or protect themselves.

... and he is a bit of a psycho. He totally lacks emotion, doesnt like sex (he doesnt understand it) and isnt really interested in what normal people are interested in. Im describing it poorly but its a really good show, i like the lead character. :D

Re: Dexter

just caught the 3rd episode. really starting to not like rita. i liked her character better as the vulnerable companion, but aside from her this show is great. hope they can keep it interesting enough without making dexter get caught or killed, because i'd like to see a few more seasons of this.

#927413Post 34 of 204

Re: Dexter

wonder how good the viewer ratings are for this show... not many people watch showtime, but i have heard non-stop how people love this show. i personally don't tihnk it is going to last a lot longer due to lack of exposure, but the episodes i have watched have been really good. i need to start on season 2 if my cable provider has showtime free.

thanks for the heads up steve.

I think the whole series will be built on how Dexter copes with the growing loss of control his has over his life/ situation. Rita being annoying and trying to control him more will be a fairly big part of that I guess. Shame though, because the love/girly angle is the least interesting concept of the whole show.

Personally, I thought Deb and Rita were both the most annoying characters in the 1st series. Both whiny emotional cripples and so desperate. I hope the whole "empowered Rita" crap is kept to a minimum.

Re: Dexter

The chase is on...can Dexter out smart them.

#928812Post 40 of 204

Re: Dexter

I can't ever recall ever getting this excited to watch any tv show before. An I do agree the Rita is starting to get a little annoying but the way Eps. 03 ended was awesome. I'm thinking dexter did that on purpose. Can't wait to see how she'll react now.

Of course Dexter will out smart them, it's just a question of how he'll do it. Less than 4 1/2 hours to go!
