Re: The Departed

Matt Damon is pimp. He scores one badass movie after another. One of my favorite films. The end just threw me off. And as much as I'm not a huge fan of DiCaprio, the guy is landing some dam good roles.

Re: The Departed

everyone (including myself) bags on defaglio because he looks like a 12 year old boy, but he really is a good actor.

Re: The Departed

Good film. Despite it being a rip off the Hong Kong flick, I'm impressed with the directing and acting. They've totally made Departed their own film. However, I thought the ending was cop out with Wahlberg appearing out of the blue in the apartment, wtf? The ending felt like some Hollywood moralistic crap where even if the good guy died, the bad guy HAD to die so nobody actually wins. The ending to Infernal Affairs Pt 1 had A LOT more punch and impact that left you reeling.

Re: The Departed

After the numerous amount of times (and years) Scorsese should have won both these awards why the hell when accepting them would he bang on about another film just because they share the same script / storyline (referring to anyone thinking about IA).

I highly doubt IA influenced Scorsese's vision for his own version.

Re: The Departed

well he might feel a bit guilty or wants to shut up anyone who wanted to say anything bad about the departed? don't know... OK, so is infernal affairs any good then?

#811793Post 54 of 63

Re: The Departed

Yes if you drop the petty love scenes which were reflected more nessiceraly (if neeeded at all) in 'The Departed'.

And check those fuckin skylines, which if Scorsese had recreated would have been shot for as a straight ripoff.

Re: The Departed

Great movie, but it was WAY TOO HYPED up.

#824265Post 57 of 63

Re: The Departed

Just caught it a couple of days ago. Agreed that the movie is brilliantly made, there are moments in the flick where the "anticipation" of the scene really gets you, but as mentioned above, it's not really as good as all the hype that its getting.

This is the second movie in which I really really like Leonardo - he is beyond amazing in Blood Diamond.

I was very impressed with Damon too, he pulls off the Suck-up squirm my way to the top Cop really well.

The 2 disappointing roles were both Wahlberg and Nicholson. Wahlhberg I felt overacted the "prick" too much. And Nicholson, oh man how much can 1 person play the same drugged out personality in virtually every other flick. Through each passing second he was on screen, he reminded me more and more of his role where he plays the OCD riddled writer (forget the name now)

But its still a very good movie overall.

Re: The Departed

not to be overlooked: Alec Baldwin's role. Loved him in that movie. He plays those kind of parts better than most. Nailed it.

Re: The Departed

^^ahh he was such a smartass prick in this movie. he does a great job at that.

Re: The Departed

Just seen it - excellent movie all round - highly recomendd it.

{apart from Wahlberg who was complete shit - his acting just wasnt believable. Wooden. Ironic seeing as he is in fact from south Boston ! ha!}

superb stuff
