not that great, alittle freaky at the end.......

anyone else check it out

#242669Post 2 of 25

Plan on it tonight. I've noticed that the majority of reviews have been very good; not that they are worth the paper they're written on usually.

#242769Post 3 of 25

that film cost about $180,000.00 to make. you know those guys are rolling in dough now.

#242771Post 4 of 25

Final Verdict, is it worth seeing it in the theaters or should i go see Aliens vs Predator?

#242775Post 5 of 25

i'd go rent Maid In Manhattan before seeing either of the above mentioned movies. they both look dumber than a box of wood screws.

I saw Open Water and thought it was good. My girlfriend thought it was below average but not a complete failure and on the way out of the theater I heard people complaining about how horrible it was.

I'm not going to spoil the movie for you but basically it's like this. If you liked Blair Witch Project 1, then you will like this movie too. The reason is that both movies are shot to resemble a home movie (VHS tape) and this adds a lot to the atmosphere of the movie. Yeah, it is a little freaky at the end but nothing that you won't be able to go to sleep at night.

My recommendation - watch it.

Hardly a surprise.

If you want a good movie go and see collateral.

I thought Open Water was horrible, saw a screening of it a few weeks ago and here's what I had to say:

8.05.2004 - Just came back from the screening and have to say easily one of the Worst Film's I've Seen.... EVER.... The whole time your just waiting for the movie to end.... At least there was a different SAW trailer before the movie started.... Besides the pointless nude scene and several wise-ass jokes cracked during the movie the crowd hardly seemed interested...

A few good camera shots were presented, especially with the thunder at night but this movie isn't even worth seeing on DVD.... Walking out of the packed theatre I didn't hear a single positive comment about the movie.... Major Flop

My Rating: 1 out of 4 stars (only saving grace is camera work at certain scenes)...

open water

That's exactly what happened with the blair witch project and although the movie itself was so so overall........ considering their bitchin budget, unknown actors, and ORIGINALITY OF CONCEPT, I would DEFO give Blair witch a handsome 8.5 / 10.

If one of you states that OPEN WATER is like Blair Witch..... then I would DEFO check it out...... will give my review in a bit :P

The Exorcist movie SUCKED!!!!!

#243228Post 13 of 25

Collateral is the movie to see right now.

#243235Post 14 of 25

Blair Witch Project was, hands DOWN, the absolute worst POS movie I've ever seen in my entire life. I can't believe they used the internet to hype it like they did, posting fake articles everywhere. And then seeing it, I about walked out of the theatre, probably should have.

#243238Post 15 of 25

damit, thats why i never go to the movies. everything sucks balls! i will wait for dvd these POS movies.

This is why I like the internet, instead of paying to see them in the theatre. And then if I like them, I buy them on DVD.

Thankfully, I didn't know that movie existed until now.

haha, my sister saw it & said it bombed bigtime. so i have no desires to peep this.

Big diffrence between this movie and Jaws though... This one was actually based on a true story it happened to a couple from Baton Rouge, La. Although there was a bit of an uproar from a few people media for the most part (not really the family at all) b/c they drastically altered the personality of the couple, the basic concept is still the same.

#313291Post 21 of 25

Open water has a naturally un-hollywood ending. I would only watch it once though.

#315109Post 22 of 25

It looked like a student film, there was no tension, no real fear, and the characters acted like they had just met in the car park outside the studio instead of a realistic couple.

0.5/10

yes...great movie...

#320362Post 24 of 25

Open Water was ok. Not really too scary or suspenseful. Worth watching, but not worth purchasing

Open water was about as exciting as having your grandmother stalemate you in a two day game of chess.
