Re: the best show on TV: The Wire
Finally gotten around to watching this on Netfilx.... season one begins.
Ok I'm with you on this one. Just bought the whole 5 seasons on DVD.

I'll begin Season 1 tonight over a glass of wine.

I've seen too many random episodes and obviously cannot follow it right. SO I'm going to take this in the right order this time.

So question: Breaking Bad or The Wire?

Re: the best show on TV: The Wire

Buttt.. The 5th season of BB hasn't aired yet. That could be all out crazy and could be the best show of all time if that happens.

Re: the best show on TV: The Wire

Caught up to season two. Holy shyte this is good.

One thing I would like to know is weather this is based on actual events?

Re: the best show on TV: The Wire

The main writer of the series was a crime reporter in Baltimore for many years for a newspaper there, so everything is based on his experiences there during that time.

Re: the best show on TV: The Wire

Yeah this is awesome and really caught me thinking all of this could be true. I'm sure that question would have been asked many a times previously, but I didn't want to click back cause I'm sure there's a lot of spoilers in the previous pages.

Every character in this is fuckin brilliantly played; Bubbles, Omar, Daniels, Avon all just brilliant actors who played these roles.

The Wire > Breaking Bad in scope and realism, Breaking Bad > The Wire in story, sound, cinematography. Both have equally good acting though I lean towards Breaking Bad because it's more dramatic and I think allows the cast to act out more.

Re: the best show on TV: The Wire

^Yeah agree so far. I see more character development/involvement in Breaking Bad because there is obviously fewer characters/issues and deals only around Walt/Jesse.

With the Wire there is just so much going on, and keeping track of it all is a challenge in itself. I'm surprised they were able to fit in so much within the episodes. I think that show could have lasted forever.

Re: the best show on TV: The Wire

Just finished season 5. Series DONE.

Overall I thought Se 2 and 4 were the best, it got pretty dry at the start of SE 5, but obviously concluded pretty well. So much to talk about with this show and this is all me and the Mrs. talk about these days. (which is a huge sigh of relief). And I would agree that this would be till this sate the best show that has ever appeared on television. Just eagerly waiting for Breaking Bad and we shall see how that goes.
