Oh yes! This one is great 8) You have to stay focused on this one, but it's really cool movie with great actors like Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman. Yep, enjoyed every minute :)

Check it out!

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

yeah i loved it.. I watched it ages ago and i watched it as "Lucky Number Slevin" [which i thought was a great name] but its just come out here in Oz and it's called "The Wrong Man"... that shits me!!! are we so dumb that we wouldn't of figured that out with the 1st 10mins aarrhhhh

I did a double-take when I saw that in Beat. Hilarious, sounded like a bad translation if the movie was opening in Thailand

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

lots of people say this was overrated. i think it was very good and had it have been a non english language film (eg. korean), people would've been raving about it

#771608Post 13 of 31

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

I didn't think it was overrated because I wasn't expecting anything and it turned out really good. Went for the film 'cos of Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley. I thought the whole film was well scripted and well shot, no complains at all. What's not to like about the film??

#771634Post 14 of 31

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

the whole noir thing seemed a bit too unnatural to me, i guess thats why, seemed a bit forced. ben kingsley is great though, definately was looking foward to him in that flick though

#771638Post 15 of 31

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

Can you explain what you mean by noir? I didn't get that feeling from the show. Are you referring to the way it was shot, or the narrative?

#771643Post 16 of 31

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

i guess some of the language, set/lighting styling, etc...i need to watch it again and see how i still think about it, but i watched it once a while back and didnt like it as much as i'd hoped....

Same could be said about Sin City but they're both great flicks. The cheesiness and overacting is part of their supposedly 'hard-boiled' appeal. I this movie was quality; violent and funny in about equal measures.

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

wached this last night. i liked it but i can never picture josh hartnett as a tough guy. was kinda weird seeing freeman & kingsley killed like a couple punks though.

#772898Post 21 of 31

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

I remember commenting to a friend after the movie that Hartnett doesn't have the crazy intensity of someone who seemed to have planned the revenge his whole life. He played the happy-go-lucky character fine at the start of the movie, but did not transit well into the avenger. Somone like Edward Norton reprising his role from Primal Fear would've been perfect for Lucky Number Slevin.

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

totally right about nortons swtictheroo in that movie. he pulled it off much better. with hartnett i almost feel like i should be getting a stuffed teddy bear as i leave the theater. still a funny little flick.

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

^^hartnett and decaprio score high on the wuss factor. probably b/c they cant grow a beard even though they are 30 y/o. but decaprio was amazing in the departed, so it is always fun to make fun of him but he is a great actor.

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

I saw it premier up at Sundance and I thought it was killer! It was a bit different when it came out to the masses but its always like that

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

I liked the film, but had a one beef with it. I feel as though the movie cheated the viewer. In the beginning they show Slevin being mugged as though it actually happened. While he recapped the previous 3 bad things that happened to him with a voice over, the film protrayed the mugging as a recent ACTUAL event, not as a recalling of events, when in actuality it never happened. It would have been fine if Slevin told Lucy Liu's character (Lindsey) about it as a voiceover or whatever, but the film portrays it as a truth, which is then contradicted by the plot twist at the end. Smalle detail I realize, but thats the difference between the plot twist in this movie and the one in the 6th Sense.

On a side note, I thought Lucy Liu was the best actor in the film. I now totally have a crush on her charecter.

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

That's the only time I found Lucy Liu attractive.

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

cool film, watched it yesterday. i specifically liked sir ben kingsley, what a great actor. i agree on the "switch-hartnett-with-norton" point, that would have been a much better cast.

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

Deepthroated it into my dvd player and the flick rocked my socks off. Loved the shooting, storyline and the dialogues were pretty funny at times.

8/10

Lucky # Slevin

Anybody else see this movie? I didn't see a thread for it. I saw it in the theater and thought it was good, but when i rented it and watched it again i thought it was simply awesome. Great story, great acting, cool cinematography, and awesome set design.
