Anyone seen this movie ? I saw this flick last night and it's the most random movie I have seen. For those in love with Naomi Watts, she bares all waist up.

Pretty twisted, will have to watch it once again to figure out what the heck is going on

Re: Mullholand Drive

extremely weird and hard as hell to follow movie, theres soooo many theories on this movie it isnt even funny, i personally thought it was sloppy and all over the place, not cohesive at all. David Lynch has done much better imo.

Re: Mullholand Drive

This movie is pretty cool. I like Blue Velvet though; well you know what i like them all. The creepy factor in all lynch's movies is always high. i always get that kind of uneasy feeling

too many theories to keep up with

Re: Mullholand Drive

Lost Highway was much better than this flick imo

Re: Mullholand Drive

yeah lost highway was better, but both are good

Re: Mullholand Drive

I think Eraserhead is still one of his best movies up until now. Plot: "Henry Spencer tries to survive his industrial environment, his angry girlfriend, and the unbearable screams of his newly born mutant child." Need I say more?

#619112Post 10 of 37

Re: Mullholand Drive

yep eraserhead is a classic. he has a new one coming out called INLAND EMPIRE (i put all caps, because the movie is titled in all caps)

twin peaks = best tv show ever

Re: Mullholand Drive

can't wait for inland empire!

Re: Mullholand Drive

I love this movie.... The simple explanantion is...

Everything until the cowboy comes in and says time to wake up is a dream/fanatasy of Naomi Watt's character of an innocent perfect love between her and the other woman.

After that is when you hit reality and she is masturbating while crying on the couch with the key on the coffee table indicating that she has had her ex-lover murdered for leaving her for the director guy...

FUN :)

Re: Mullholand Drive

This is a must see movie. Its one of the most confusing movies ever made and there is no doubt Lynch is a genius. 8)

Re: Mullholand Drive

Lynch is a talented, but STRANGE mofo.

Re: Mullholand Drive

it will be interesting to see what he come up with in this one

it's the simplest of lynch's movies to understand...along with lost highway and blue velvet.

i still don't get twin peaks though :what

Re: Mullholand Drive

it's a must-see movie just to be able to know what others are talking about...but the story just doesn't make sense. Some people like this, but I don't...

well the "swicth over" from "dream" to "reality" is absurdly quick. Throws it all off the contemplation charts

A - Duh, it's a Lynch movie

B - The cowboy does come in and say, it's time for you to wake up.

A. It doesn't matter who the fuck directed it, you can still be an awesome director if you add a touch of clarity to the direction. I dont consider myself a weakling on the IQ scale but this was a little off the rationality bridge. A GOOD direction is one where even if the length of the movie is jumbled beyond comprehension, the ending is impactful enough where all the jumbled pieces actually fall back in place. 2 PRIME examples are Stay / Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This one was not even in the same league.

B. The cowboy coulda taken his pants off and pole vaulted onto the bed to wake up Ms. Watts, it was still unclear that it actually switched over from dream - real (I was also doing a major site migration for a client and could have added to my distractedf mind, but still).

Re: Mullholand Drive

Kamal

You must accept that david lynch isnt going to be very followable, and then you wont be so dissapointed.

also, it helps to get really high. Not for movies, just generally.

Re: Mullholand Drive

Mulholland Drive? One of the strangest movies I ever saw. To be honest... I didn't get it :S

#625392Post 24 of 37

Re: Mullholand Drive

i wouldnt say it was "easy" to follow... anyone who says they knew exactly what was going on is full of it imo.

Re: Mullholand Drive

no kidding, and does anyone know what happened to those 2 guys who met at the diner in the beginning of the movie and one of them dies as he walks around the corner and sees that ..... thing ?

#625447Post 26 of 37

Re: Mullholand Drive

Thats just a monster in back of the diner, duh... :)

#625711Post 27 of 37

Re: Mullholand Drive

it's just pure David Lynch..

the first part of the movie is just the mental masturbation of Naomi Watts.. the true happenings are the last part. Lynch tried to figure out this with very weird theories.. but rather than the Lost Highway, he just thought that "how can i make a movie more complicated" and suceed it..

#878419Post 28 of 37

Re: Mullholand Drive

nice flick, but Lost highway is much more fucked up and Grandmother, Lynch is just crazy, but still genius!

#878759Post 29 of 37

Re: Mullholand Drive

good one, but eraserhead is still a masterpiece.

people say inland empire is even more confusing ^^

#878858Post 30 of 37

Re: Mullholand Drive

Wasn't the first part of this movie an unfinished pilot for a TV series that was scraped ?

That creepy person behind the diner scared the shit out of me.

I didn't see this mentioned, but another clue it's a dream is she's having is at the very beginning of the movie you see a pillow in first person view and someone passing out on a bed. This is the Naomi Watts character passing out until the Cowboy tells her to get up.

that are just lynch tricks, where point is that there is no point in that scene.
