Clooney and Jude Law would have been good too but they are in the upper echelon salary wise and I don't think they could have been tempted.

If it had to be an Aussie they could have done way better with Guy Pearce. The man is amazing in everything I've seen him in. Check out L.A. Confidential if you don't believe me.

Re:: Eric Bana new James Bond

Interesting choice - though I'm not totally sold on the aspect of Bana being able to pull off super sophisticated, mainly because his roles have been a lot more gruff, rough round the edges character.

Loved him in Hulk, wasn't totally sold on him in Troy, but Chopper convinced me he's a name to watch.

Re:: Eric Bana new James Bond

I read he wasn't even approached for the role and it's all a lie.

Re:: Eric Bana new James Bond

Heard an interview with him on a local radio radio station yesterday here in Melbourne Australia, and he had now idea about it. Supposingly he was racing on the weekend (Porsche Cup) and they introduced he as James Bond and he had no idea what they where on about. When he got home that night it was on the local news so uit was the first he had heard of it. He was saying he wouldn't take the role of Bond even if it was offered to him anyway!!!!

Christian Bale, the upcoming british actor who starred in Empire under the Sun or more recently American Psycho, and now the new Batman, was supposedly first choice for the role, but can't do it for simple reason that he's off making 'Batman Begins' :YeaRight:

Quite simple really :Bingo:

Eric Bana won't be Bond

Australian actor Eric Bana will not be the next James Bond.

The actor, who last appeared on the big screen opposite Brad Pitt in Troy, said he was definitely not in the running to take over from Pierce Brosnan as agent 007.

"Let me start by putting it to rest, that I am not the next James Bond," Bana said while launching the new teenmatters magazine in Sydney.

"I still don't know where that came from."

In fact, Bana only heard he was a contender while watching the evening news in his Melbourne home.

"I was sitting at home watching the news and thinking I did not know anything about this," he said.

News reports coming out of the UK suggested that despite Bana's denial, he had been offered the part.

"Eric has been offered the part of James Bond but is currently deciding whether it's something he really wants to sign up to," an insider reportedly told London's Evening Standard.

But the only role Bana has definitely signed to is Steven Spielberg's Vengeance, a chronicle of the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, where 11 Israeli athletes were killed by a group of Palestinian militants.

"That (Vengeance) has been put back to next year but there are a couple of other things (on the cards)," he said.

^ interesting... i thought he'd make an okay Bond, but i agree that Clive Owen would be awesome, and guy pearce wouldnt be bad either. :D

I'd rather see Hugh Grant play bond personnelly. Eric Bana I don't think is a good pick.
