the latest Woody Allen movie, saw this last night... and thought it was quite good.

the main character is Chris (played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers) who gets a job as a tennis instructor at a posh London tennis/sports club. he becomes friends with Tom, a guy taking lessons and becomes close to Tom's family also after going to the opera with them. later he meets Nola (Scarlett Johannson, my future wife) who is Tom's fiancee, and is strongly attracted to her. this is made complicated by the fact that he is seeing Tom's sister Chloe.

thats all i'm going to get into so as not to ruin the movie, but it is pretty good. the acting was good. don't expect a comedy, its definately a drama and there are a few twists, a lot of the events keep the viewer on their toes. an added bonus is that you get some great shots of London throughout the movie, as the entire film takes place there.

would recommend this movie, its a change (imo) for Woody Allen, but he did a good job with it, as did the actors.

Re: Match Point

I just saw this over the weekend. Very good, IMO. The ending was a little wacky, but I loved every minute up till that point. Great music, scenery, actors and plot twists and tangles. Scarlett is luscious, she should be in every movie, IMO.

4/5 - Match Point 10/5 Scarlett

Re: Match Point

Just came got back from the cinema watching this and i might say that i heard this was good but it was better that what i had expected .... Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Scarlette Johansson and Emily Mortimer were really good in the characters that they play

My favourite scene has to be at the end where the detectives solve the crime ... i thought that was funny

Favourite scene with Scarlet Johansson has to be the one where she was walking in the rain. that alone is worth 90% of the ticket

Re: Match Point

I just saw this. I <3 Scarlett.

Love the opening scene with the tennis net and the ball. Love the same treatment with the ring.

Excellent acting from the actors, but what plot twists? Did I miss out on something? It's about the dude having an affair with his brother-in-law's ex-fiance. Oh right, the twist because he was actually lucky enough to get away with the deed. Hated the near-ending and all that pontificating between the dude, the old neighbor, and Johansson. What was THAT crap?

And that last line, when the brother-in-law toasted the newborn ... yes, we get it, it's better to be lucky than be great.

My favorite line in the movie was the dude's wife telling the dude (in her expasperated tone), 'you can get a woman pregnant!' when they were arguing about their lack of children. Love the irony.

But yes, Scarlett Johansson ... too fucking hot.
