Re: da vinci code...

The book was great. I can't wait to see the movie. I just hope that the movie is as good as the book.

Re: da vinci code...

if you have a closer look at the cast and the director you'll be more confident on the success of this film...

Re: da vinci code...

not sure what to think of the casting. Would have liked to see Julie Delpy in the role that Audrey Tatau took on (although after I saw Dirty Pretty Things - I saw the light that she could take on a gritty role), and Tom Hanks isn't quite the leading man I had envisionned for this (I was thinking of someone that would have been a bit more like Harrison Ford in the 80's).

Guess we'll see this spring/summer.

i agree about Harrison Ford in the the 80s and I would also sugest Jeff Bridges... but Tom Hanks isnt so bad for an option...is he???

When I think of an Indiana Jones type romp, the guy who was in Bachelor Party and Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) doesn't really come to mind.

Jeff Bridges is an interesting choice though.

Re: da vinci code...

from the casting i think it all looks pretty spot on, although i agree, i didnt envision tom cruise as langdon. also, i thought teabing was supposed to be fat, i didnt picture mckellan when i was reading the book - but he is a marvellous actor, and im sure he will make the role his own.

Re: da vinci code...

Really enjoyed the book. Can't say the cast of Tom Hanks as the Langdon fits how I envisioned the lead but having Howard as director leaves me with some hope that this film will be done right. I too liked the idea of Delpy as the female lead but think Audrey can pull it off as well.

book was great but CAST O_o

Re: da vinci code...

I actually think the casting of Tom Hanks was a very good choice. Let's remember that Langdon was a very frail, yet intelligent man. I envision Hanks as fitting into that character.

Re: da vinci code...

never read the book, so i cant agree or disagree about tom hanks all i can say is that he is a phenomenal actor... isn't the da vinci code a true thing?? ..

Re: da vinci code...

Jean Reno is also perfect for the role...

The book was a fast read but I think it was poorely written. Read like a movie script which is why I'm quite confident the movie's going to be good though.

Well... The Da Vinci Code is a fictional novel, but there are some very interesting facts in the novel about the origins of certain religious sects and symbols.

Re: da vinci code...

the book is so fucking cheesie, i think the movie is gonna be worst then, not even close to a classic, just another best seller, if you are thinking about reading it, dont waste your time.

you should read the books discussing the validity the da vinci code...some of the so called 'facts' in that book are stretches of the truth.

Re: da vinci code...

You dont critisize a fictional novel if it stretches the truth or not... its just a novel...and the author needs somethin to start from :)

you dont have to normally, but when droves of people start believing it, then i'd say its worthwhile to separate fact from fiction.

and yes, the opus dei did send me.
