So I watched this flick yesterday thx to a sneaky rip and must say one thing: Wow  This is by far the most visually astounding movies I've seen, watching it on a big screen must be halluva experience :Bingo:

The technological step forward since the first FF movie is huge, it's difficult to believe such progress could be made in a relatively short time span (3 years I think).

One caveat: u won't undrstand much unless u actually played Final Fantasy 7. But if u did, well it is a dream come true for a fan - Cloud & Co back in the action. I always thought the original story was fantastic and it's good to have abit more of it (the plot seems to be a little rushed tho).

Do check out this one, at least for its visual mastery :RightOn:

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

I was excited about it, then I saw it... and the story was a little incoherent... but that is probably because of the terrible subtitle job going on.

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

i thought the plot was a little flawed with some things not explained like where and how those 3 baddies came from but visually i must say its definately stunning .. too bad it wont be shown on the big screen though

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

you can find the subtitles addition in most places... its a small text file... use VLC to watch the video with the subtitle video track enabled

#485186Post 13 of 36

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

After watching this I must agree with Corven. It is visually stunning, but the story is lacking a bit. However, I think the visuals far outweigh the story. I cannot wait to get a proper copy when it is released in America.

This is a totally different film. Final Fantasy - The Spirits Within was more of a situation where Square Enix decided that they wanted some name recognition to go along with the film they had put together, so they decided to make use of their own franchise name.

Advent Children is more faithful to the video game. And like everyone else has said, it's a pretty astonishing technical acheivement, but is complete jibberish to someone (like me) who isn't familiar with the game nor the world that the film is based on. It's a masterpeice of eye candy with a pretty incomprehensible plot to the layman.

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

So this movie is that good? And how good is good?

#492568Post 19 of 36

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

it's ok. If you didn't play the game, you'd likely have a real hard time understanding what's going on... but if you played the game, you'd recognize all the characters as they appear in an instant.

watching it makes me want to play it again... bad news :what

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

I think its cool becuase i played ff7 but if you did not i would probably not recommend you watching it all, or atleast get some background info on the games storyline. The visual eye candy might be worth taking a look at if that intrestes you.

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

FF7 is the best game ever made...it's as simple as that.

A friend told me about this movie and I can't wait to see it. But seriously people, how much better can it look than The Spirits Within??? There are CGI movies that just came out that don't match up to that one. Either way, it will be sick to see Cloud, Barret and Aeris (?? is she still dead...it's been years since I played the game) and Sephiroth go at it again.

For all those saying the story is incoherent...what FF ever made perfect sense?? It's part of the deal...awesome characters, a guy named Sid and a completely confusing, but absolutely enthralling story = every FF. Take it or leave it.

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Story is very weak compared to the the game. Then again what did you expect. Watching cause me to spend nearly 50 hours replaying the game.

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

i want a copy of this movie but i cant get it damn, i want to see it right now but well..... and i liked more FF8......

im playing FF9 for the first time its cool but FF7 & 8 are better :D

by the way do someone have a copy of it ? can i get it?

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
..., a guy named Sid, ...

it definitely much, much better than Spirits Within graphic-wise. the story is lacking, but the nostolgia of watching the characters makes up for it if you've played the game

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children

It was one of the best animated movies I've ever seen. Top Notch. The story line for most part follows the one from the game with all the same characters. Some of the fighting scenes though, were over the top. But it is Final Fantasy and worth checking out just for the CG.

Re: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

I saw a bootlegged version of the Japanese version. The translation was odd at times, but the movie is phenomenal!
