Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story [2016]
What a load of shite. Isn't it about time they stopped building and blowing up Death Star's and come up with something more original. What's the betting that the new Death Star will not have an exhaust pipe to shoot down, but will probably be blown up by some Jedi by using the power of the force.
Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story [2016]
I was under the impression this is a backstory on how the Rebels got the plans for the Death Star which enabled A New Hope.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story [2016]
The idea is interesting - the story is running slightly before and maybe even concurrently with the events from Episode 4 (they hint at a key event in one of the scenes in the teaser).
Liking that they're continuing along with a female protagonist - considering that in the original trilogy there was only 3 females with speaking parts. Forrest Whittaker and Donnie Yen being in the cast are a big plus as well.
I thought that the unconfirmed third movie that's being listed in the infographic was the Boba Fett movie?

Like all Star Wars trailers, they are always good, then the movie never lives up to the hype.

The Cost of Building a Real-World At-At
The website Best Casino has posted an infographic that breaks down how a real-world AT-AT would come together. As one would expect, the materials don’t come cheap and the construction would be $226.5 million. That figure does not include the annual salary for the crew (collectively $192,000), which would amount to one pilot, one gunner, one commander and up to 40 stormtroopers.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story [2016]
Nothing new in this movie. This was very predictable.
Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story [2016]
It's the darkest and one of the best of the series since Empire Strikes Back. This is not a typical Star Wars tale - no icon logo zooming away and fading into the stars with the John Williams score, the members Rebel Alliance is cast in a far more ruthless light and we're only get echos and hints of the previous films, some characters making a minor appearance or a cameo, some mentioned in passing.
It does a fantastic job of updating the Star Wars universe in light of how we see resistance fighters combating their oppressors, how the Empire is stripping planets of their resources (think of Iraq and how oil played so importantly in it's invasion) and the desperation of recruiting people for the Rebel cause that might be outlaws and criminals in more even keeled times.
It's really impressive at how they managed to make a entire movie out of a single line of dialogue from Episode IV - and now will likely make you think of this movie when you hear it uttered again, with a lot more resonance.
If there's any point that might be weak, it's the characters can be a bit thin - changes in motivation towards the belief in the rebellion are sketchy and somewhat left for you to fill in the blanks. But that's a bit more of the writing than it is with the casting, which is all around excellent, particularly with Alan Tudyk as K-2S0, a reprogrammed Imperial droid that has no filter when he speaks, Donnie Yen as the monk like Chirrut Innue and his companion Baze Malbus - played by Wen Jiang. All the characters and actors are great in their roles, you just want to know more about them, their background and what causes their motivations. Other than the lead played by Felicity Jones, you're to figure it out yourself.
It's a welcome break from the typical Star Wars series - they stray from the formula that the previous installments have established and offer a much darker side (pun not intended) to the universe that Lucas had created, and go the route of telling a story of espionage instead of the swashbuckling, ligthsabre fighting heroics we've been treated to.

LOL
That's actually pretty funny.
Re:
^
The film was solid. Not nearly as good as 'The Force Awakens', IMO. I thought the CGI Turkin & Leia were a bit over the top. Definitely action packed especially at the end. Looking forward to the next installment in December 2018.
