Have you seen this?

There are 6 episodes so far, 6 different chefs

here's the trailer of one of them:

Re: Chef's table on Netflix

I really enjoyed Ep 1 of Season 1 but the series got progressively more pretentious for me and a quote from Ep 1 of Season 2 triggers more ambivalence:
Wow, that's delicious, and that's really cool. That's what we have to do, right? Otherwise, I just give you a slice of bread and a tomato, and you go, 'why am I paying $500 for this?' Right?
I don't know, some of it is really pretentious wanky shit. Towards the end of Season 1 it seems like if these people are to be believed chefs are a bunch of damaged folks.

The passion and dedication in Jiro Dreams of Sushi comes across as extremes of indulgent pathos in Chef's Table.

IMO.

Re: Chef's table on Netflix

know what you mean and kinda agree generally.. definitely would not pay myself any of those chefs restaurant fees, in not a few cases even the food itself does not look like something i would like to eat if im really hungry  .. See it more like art, so to speak.. Like something higher than food per se.. plus its fun to watch imo lol..

Jiro dreams of sushi.. damn, i would be happy to give all my money just for 20 pieces

By the way any recommendations about documentaries of this kind, feel free to share.. love them

Re: Chef's table on Netflix

aren't most of them on Chef's Table like 30 course meals lasting several hours? it's like of like going to a broadway play vs. the local movie theater. I don't mind spending $300 on a ticket to a solid broadway play. Some people share that passion for food, and it's tough to judge if you share that passion, imo. Disclaimer, I have only seen season 1...

If you enjoy "going to a broadway play AND the local movie theater" watch season 2.. Easy.
