I can't figure out these films that come along and cause all the critics to go apeshit over what is a well crafted film, but talks of Oscar before the year is half over is fucking silly. Yes Russell Crowe is a great actor, yes Ron Howard doesn't give in to vaudeville and typical ways that Hollywood usually tries to wrangle emotions from audiences, but I felt the same way about this the way I felt about American Beauty - it's something you've seen many times before with a few innovations, but nothing to shit yourself over.

Anyone else see this? Thoughts?

Absolutely loved it. The crowd in the theatre was actually cheering for Braddock during the fights. I thought it was a very well done movie with very good acting and given the historical statistics of how many films come out versus how many receive Oscar consideration, I would say that this is a very good candidate for a few nominations.
