damn this movie was twisted. i was actually sitting in the theater with my mouth wide open saying "oh my god!" to myself. keep in mind i'm in atlanta.

this movie reminds me a lot of 'Closer' except it touches on racism, not sexuality.

some very gripping scenes in this film.

4.9/5 imo

Re: Crash

my gf hated the movie but i loved how the stories flowed in one point at the end one of the best movies of the year

Re: Crash

Im going to see this for the second time tonight.

Movie of the year for me.

Re: Crash

Couldn't they use another name? there's already a great movie called Crash... And the different-stories-combined-in-car-accident act, just sounds too much like Amores Perros.

Might be a good movie anyways... but it doesn't look so good at first.

Re: Crash

Such a good movie.

Put together in a remarkable way.

Taking extreme cases of racism/stereotypes and building stories around them. Plus you know that this type of racism is happening all the time no matter where you are.

Good movie, will see it again and again.

9/10

Re: Crash

This was one of the better movies I've seen in a long time!! Probably one of the best I've seen in years. I hadn't even heard of the movie so I didn't know what to expect.

The story, style of the movie, and music fit together incredibly!!

It's hard for a movie to impress me in a way that this one did... I'm going to have to give this a 9.9/10!!

Probably my favorite of the year.

Re: Crash

very good movie, extremely well done i thought. great acting, and the actual crash scene was superb

Re: Crash

Just caught this last night and have to say that I was very impressed. Don Cheadle continues to prove to me why he's one of the best actors in Hollywood. There were so many times during the movie that the story could've gone the opposite way and it would've been equally as compelling, but in the end I'm glad it was written in the manner it was. The only casting mistakes imo were Brendan Fraser (who couldn't play a serious role if his life depended on it) and Sandra Bullock (the most overrated actress in the world).

Re: Crash

^^^ i second that ska from cheadle being one of the best actors in H-Town to fraser can't act.

Re: Crash

Chill out people it wasn't THAT good.

It was good, don't get me wrong, but you could see the end coming for ages, and it did go on a bit I thought.

I second the comment about Bullock - why was she credited as leading actress - she was hardly in it at all????

#502673Post 13 of 37

Re: Crash

com'on greg the movie was good. It wasnt bad, but yeah why is bullock the leading actress I though the cop girl did a better job and had nicer tits.

I enjoyed this film too but it was pretty funny how Bullock was credited as a lead. She whined in a few scenes and that was about it.

I really liked how uncomfortable the movie made me feel at times. Maybe not my top pick of the year but definitely a good one.

I'm going to have to agree with you here too! I'm not big on frasier at all... his voice kiiiiiiiillllls me! Frasier was the only mistake they made with this movie. Bullock may be overrated but I thought she did a good job. I liked how she was one of the bigger names in the movie, BUT she barely had a part. Nice touch!

Re: Crash

good movie, but leaves a sour taste after more and more time has passed since you've seen it. pretty juvenile after a while...won't win any oscars this year

#518280Post 19 of 37

Re: Crash

finally caught this tonight, and what a great film. anyone who says they saw the ending (there were really multiple endings to each individual story) coming is full of crap. there were some twists in there at the end to join the stories together that had me saying shit out loud as well. very cleverly put together.

10/10

Re: Crash

if anyone would ask me what they should see at the movies, I would definitely say CRASH... Ludacris plays a nice role in this one too :). It's simply the best movie I've seen in a long time

great movie -> 9.5/10 from me!

Re: Crash

i liked this film as well- saw it a while ago- it really makes u think and touches on some interesting racial issues in today's society.

it is one of the few movies released this year that makes u reflect during and after watching it. it does a great job of allowing people to see that racism/ prejudice is still a very real thing.

#521733Post 22 of 37

Re: Crash

the actual crash scene = oscar worthy in itself

best performance (of many great ones) imo was Terrence Howard, he was superb

Re: Crash

first movie in a while that after I watched it I sat there and thought about stereotypes and how they are still so predominant in culture. makes you think what you might do when out of your comfort zone and staring one of your stereotypes in the face, how would you react? would you react like Ryan Phillpes character did?

Re: Crash

quality film - matt dillons up for a golden globe award for it

Re: Crash

What a great movie this was, just went through the whole thing... gotta disagree with you ska, I thought Frasier was well placed as a political white boy DA. They couldn't have thought of a prettier face... I cant imagine who else could've filled those shoes better ..... agreed bullock was so uncalled for to be in that role, with Frasier being her husband, they coulda picked up some other dark haired actress who isn't bullock or roberts.... the casting was spot on, direction outstanding, music was so incredibly well laid out and the plot was brilliant.....

defo an 8 / 10

Re: Crash

Just saw this and loved it. What a great examination of the darker side of human nature, when we react to the life's problems without thinking how it will effect others, and eventually oursevles. I loved the interlocking story lines and there was many great performances and excellent dialogue. The scene when Matt Dillion pulls Thalia Newton from the wreck was powerful stuff.
it is one of the few movies released this year that makes u reflect during and after watching it. it does a great job of allowing people to see that racism/ prejudice is still a very real thing.
I agree, it definitely had me thinking about myself and how I play my little role is this tragedy.

I also think they did a really good job addressing some of the stereotypes about racism by showing how everyone holds prejudice.. white, black, asian, latino, middle eastern. We are all guilty of this at one time or anther.

Another point is that the movies stops short of preaching... they lay out the events for better or for worse, but don't make any judgements. You see how the characters react to their perdiciments and to their own actions, but in fairness you also see how there can be valid justification for why people feel the way they do, even if the end result is not pretty. I always appreciate when a movie can deal with a vulgar issue without getting sactimonious-- it is what it is, it exists and we will discuss it.

4.7/5

i've seen this movie a while ago. well.. it's not bad - kinda twisted and screwed up - but the truth of a matter is that i really don't think it deserves oscar for best picture of the year.

What would you have selected instead?

I'm glad it won over Brokeback.

Great soundtrack from what I recall, need to see this again sometime.

I learned something interesting from the Academy Awards - Race(Crash) beats out homosexuality(Brokeback Mountain).
