Anybody seen it? Afleck or not, it's a great movie. Best movie I've seen in years.

Re: Gone Girl

Saw it on Friday night - really good. 30 minutes too long, but really good. Found Affleck's performance to be a little flat, but that might have been intentional in order to let the female lead characters stand out more.

Re: Gone Girl

for what it's worth dusky, my agent loves actors, and movies and the business. but she really doesn't like Affleck either . she's from London too, not here.

Re: Gone Girl

I went in completely blind, not knowing anything other than Fincher had directed and the cast and was pleasantly rewarded. Fantastic direction with nothing too flashy in the way of camera work from Fincher - he's full bore going after the best that the actors have to offer, and the cast, in particular Tyler Perry, deliver spectacularly.

I kind of liked the somewhat demented Fight Club/Basic Instinct vibe that the film had with the use of the unreliable narrator, the nearly anarchist bend once the plot twist kicks in and the willingness of Fincher to lay it on thick in the final act - heading into satire territory. On closer examination, the story is a bit loopy, but I wanted to go along for the ride.

Fantastic film - one of the best I've seen this year.

Re: Gone Girl

Fincher, easily one of my favourite directors irrespective of Fight Club, Sev7en, and his efforts on House of Cards. Surprised he didn't enlist Pitt as a lead in this film. Haven't thoroughly caught up on films as of yet, but intend to do so next week, judging by the reviews it's getting.

Oscars worthy?

Re: Gone Girl

Pitt's not the right fit for this kind of a role - I was frankly surprised at how well Affleck walked the line between world class asshole husband and managed to make the role sympathetic at the same time.

Pitt's image has changed and with his family life with Jolie in the public eye might cause audiences to have a harder time believing him or wanting to see him in this kind of a role.

Re: Gone Girl

I loved this movie with all the twists and turns in the plot until.......................... the very last one (wont spoil it) - was just so far fetched it was comical/made my blood boil, as it was so much of a one step too far. Until those last few minutes..superb!

Re: Gone Girl

saw this last night. it was a bit too long but overall I enjoyed it very much. Her performance is excellent. Maybe the chemistry between the twins was tyring on some points, trying to reafirm how they support each other every single time...
