I was going to say The Outsiders. The sequel/prequel not even sure if it was either really, but a great film.
City Of God - Everyone seems to know it but hardly anyone has watched it, and it is probably my favourite film of all time.

There is a new argentine film nominated to the oscars I have not seen yet, but some people say it is a good one.
