Re: Ben Affleck is Batman

Honestly, I think Affleck's true calling is behind the camera rather than in front of it. Gone, Baby Gone and Argo are really tightly told stories and he's got a great grasp of how to tell a story. Even The Town was pretty good and a pretty solid demonstration that he could do a more commercially minded film.
With him being physically in front of the camera, though, he doesn't really have any grace in movement - think how fucking awkward it was to watch him in Daredevil and how flash edit happy the movie was in working around that. Now imagine him in the Batman armor and how restrictive that shit was for everyone that's donned the cowl. But then again, a lot of the Batman movies had their mano a mano fight scenes very quickly edited, but at least they had Nolan behind the camera.
The other thing about Affleck is he just doesn't have that intensity that someone else like Josh Brolin could bring to the role. Sure, he was plenty serious in Argo, but I still felt like I was watching Ben Affleck instead of the CIA operative. He's not really an actor that I think audiences can separate from their public image vs. their role. See also: Tom Cruise.
It's not a good casting choice imo.

Re: Ben Affleck is Batman
At least it's not that cockhead who was green lantern.
Re: Ben Affleck is Batman
But can you imagine a Justice League movie with Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern and Ben Affleck as Batman? :Barf:
Re: Ben Affleck is Batman
I can't comment on affleck as I seldom watch movies starring anyone anyway.
I have a passion for hating on that other guy you mentioned....and I didn't even see green lantern. I can't remember what movie I even last saw him in but he is the same character as he was in some sit come ages ago...and as a result it made a rubbish movie even worse.
Who is the nemesis for batman anyway....not that I will be watching it anyway.

Re: Ben Affleck is Batman
from comedian Patton Oswalt's FB:
No matter how many times you post your stupid "Fire Ben Affleck from Playing Batman" petition, I'm going to delete it and block you. Take a deep breath, and think for a second:
Yeah, the dude's made some bad films. Every actor has. Every actor does. Every actor will. It's a huge, arcing career and NO ONE has control over where it goes. Movie to movie, year to year, you're collaborating and trying and risking and, sometimes, yes -- failing.
Plus, everyone seems to forget that he had the world dropped in his lap when he was YOUNG. And, judging by how other suddenly-famous youngsters do in the same situation, he fared pretty well. Even when it went wrong, he seemed to keep a self-deprecating, long-view philosophy about the burning freak carousel he'd found himself on.
And then what happened? I mean, he'd fallen from a HEIGHT. You know what happens to 95% of people who weather a descent that steep? They come apart, fray at all of their sanity nodes, and give up.
But then there's the 5% who embrace crushing defeat and see it for the gift it is. And here's the gift: when you fail, and fail UTTERLY, you wake up the next morning and see that the world didn't end. And then the fear of failure is gone. And you're free. You're free to proceed on your own terms and pace -- if you have the ego that permits you to.
Ben brushed himself off, realized he'd kept his eyes open on the movies he'd done, and started directing. And he's become a damn good one.
A Batman portrayed by someone who's tasted humiliation and a reversal of all personal valences -- kind of like Grant Morrison's "Zen warrior" version of Batman, post-ARKHAM ASYLUM, who was, in the words of Superman, "...the most dangerous man on the planet"? Think for a second and admit that Ben Affleck is closer to THAT top-shelf iteration of The Dark Knight than pretty much anyone in Hollywood right now.
I'd write more, but I have to go work on my post about how an overweight 44 year-old comedian with bad feet and insomnia would be a bold choice for The Joker.
Re: Ben Affleck is Batman
Sorry but from everything I've read about Keanu Reeves, he's an extremely smart and decent human being too. That doesn't make him a good actor. Nobody is dissing Affleck as a person. I've never seen him in anything with the kind of gravitas and intensity needed for Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Re: Ben Affleck is Batman
just another perspective is all
