It's better than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, but that's like saying that eating rotten food is better than eating dirt. What a sad, tired, stupid, silly remake, and Michael Bay must be stopped before he pooch screws The Transformers in 2006.

Re: The Amityville Horror remake...

hollywood has lost all originality. every time one of these remakes comes out, i turn right around and go rent the originals. remakes are so cheesy.

Re: The Amityville Horror remake...

the only thing this movie accomplished was putting more stupid tourists in my area. ( i live 5 minutes from the house). its funny, cuz at night they have walks that go past the house and the new owner hates it.

Re: The Amityville Horror remake...

All thrillers/horror/scary movies are the same. They all use the same cliches and stories and they are all so very, very predictable...

Re: The Amityville Horror remake...

saw it the other night, got a few jumps here and there but otherwise it was a very average movie. The girl i was with however was scared shitless and i now have some nice scratch marks on my arm from her grabbing me, but i thought it wasnt anything special.

should go see the original, just to see what its like....

Re: The Amityville Horror remake...

If you want to see something really scary, watch Haute Tension (has two working titles in the U.S. Switchblade Romance and High Tension). Nasty, very mean French slasher flick that manages to make a very suspenseful and pretty terrifying watch.

Re: The Amityville Horror remake...

I was entertained at the fact that even during the day something could be scary, but overall not impressed at all

I think hollywood has been like that for the last 6 yr. Name one good movie that has come out in the last 5 yrs. Everything seems to be shitty remake.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind Team America World Police Donnie Darko

There are lots of others, but I do think that a majority of the really good and original shit is foreign these days.

Re: The Amityville Horror remake...

Can't say I really enjoyed the original so I doubt I will see the remake. I do love how scared I remember being when I first read the book when I was young. Every time the demon pig red eyes appeared my eyes would well up with fear.

Re: The Amityville Horror remake...

i only saw this movie because its creators made the remake of the chainsaw massacre, which i loved. it scared the hell out of me and thats all i as for out of a horror movie -- to be scared. so with a great horror movie like chainsaw on their resumes, i thought these guys would deliver on amityville. but they didnt. nobody even died in this movie. im sorry, but it takes some killing and some absolutely insane fucker to make a movie scary. to its credit, it is a significant improvement over the original amityville, which was like a cheezy version of exorcist. also, its images of the priest jeremy kecham were pretty freaky. that guy was crazy, a true horror movie would have been about him, and not some disfunctional family
