Saw this last night, enjoyed it thoroughly. Asa Butterfield was amazing, Kingsley was great, Ford not so much.

Finally got to see Battle Room, which wasn't quite how I envisioned it, and the large scale space battle was just pure wet dream.

I actually didn't enjoy the movie as much I hoped I would have. It's too much of a simulation and even when it ends, what we witnessed as the real battle was a shortlived simulation. And that mind jump from the video-game to it being a reality in the end, if that's what oversized ants are capable of and this kid is now in control of a spaceship hurtling through space finding another planet for an egg of a mother ant?

I know if we read it in a book well described, it would have sounded great but when you read it as it is above (for me), that's what I deduced from the movie and it ended up really unsatisfactory.

I'll give it an A on viz effects and a [B]4.5 / 10[/B] for the movie that it is. I guess that's why it's out on DVD so soon and Gravity still eludes us.

IIRC in the book the ants didn't communicate with Ender through the Mind Game.

I agree the lead up to the final 'exam' felt off and I don't know if it's cos I already knew the 'twist' but the way the big wigs huddled around in the command room overlooking the 'simulation' it seemed pretty obvious they were too invested in this for it to be a simulation.

But it's nice to see everything come to life, especially the space battles.

I enjoyed it, the main character was a bit of a stick insect but did a good job

arent the beginning of the year awards shows a culprit of this as well? ie: delaying of DVD releases?

i was a little disapointed, the Radio drama was in the story deeper and intresting, the movie was bam bam bam finsh ... i think the story about ender was in the movie to short ... the ending was so zoomed ..oh oh don´t have more time ending ...
