Looks like a pretty boring list. Aside from Argo and Django Unchained that I've seen, none of the winners look appealing.

Oscars 2013
Re: Oscars 2013
i want to see the life of pi... first time i've ever watched any of the oscars in probably 20 years. pretty boring, period imo.
Re: Oscars 2013
Searching for Sugar Man took best documentary - that was a HUGE win for me
Re: Oscars 2013
I was told Sugar Man is good, and to check out Silver Linings and Beasts of Southern Wild. I'm surprised Argo took Best Picture. Maybe Best Director ...
Re: Oscars 2013
The Oscars have always been one big circle jerk of peeps who decided to make a ceremony about who's going to get a huge raise for whatever they want to do next.
It's bad enough that they're making an awards ceremony about what they consider "art", and I genuinely appreciate that sometimes they manage to shine a spotlight on some movies that wouldn't get much, if any mainstream attention (like this year's Amour, or War Child), but ultimately it's a waste of time. Think about who has won an Oscar for whatever project they did - do you really think that Al Pacino merited an Oscar for Scent of a Woman, when he did way, way better work in tons of other films? It's rarely about actual merit, it's a bunch of millionaires giving each other pats on the back.
I watched it, seeing Adele do Skyfall live was cool, as was seeing Shirley Bassey do Goldfinger, but I don't really think the awards mean much - just some weird empty validation.
Silver Linings
I would pass on Silver Linings unless you came from a highly dysfunctional family... I left the movie wondering what I had just watched. It made no sense to me personally, a big let down. The actress did a good job though.
Re: Oscars 2013
I saw Silver Linings, it was alright. I thought all the actors turned in good performances but it's basically a boy-meets-girl story. I did think the way Bradley Cooper's character's change of heart after realizing the letter wasn't written by his ex-wife a bit sudden and simple.
Re: Oscars 2013
All the dancing personally I found to be hard to believe. I just didn't see Cooper's character doing something like that... also the fight scenario at the football game seemed like bullshit... The movie seemed to cut corners I thought, and there wasn't nearly enough character development for most of the cast.
Re: Oscars 2013
Pleased that Day-Lewis won his 3rd Oscar, guy is simply an unreal actor, the best there has ever been IMO.
There Will Be Blood is an astonishing acting performance
Re: Oscars 2013
yah - there will be blood is up there with my favorites of all time
