I thought I already made a thread for this but I guess not...This preview doesn't show anything from Ray Fiennes or Javier Bardem which is too bad because that is going to cause the bad ass factor of this movie to go up by a factor of 2, but this still looks good.

Some nice vignettes, but I'm so over Asia as a setting.

Re: Skyfall (2012)

Anyone caught this yet?

Quite enjoyed it. When this trilogy launched, did the press ever say it was a prequel? Cos that's what it felt like at the end.

Re: Skyfall (2012)

Yup I saw it last week. Much better than the last. I liked Javier Bardem, but I wish he had a bit more screen time. I don't believe this is a prequel, just the remake of Casino Royale with Daniel Craig took place early in Bonds career, this one I believe is in current times. Especially with what happened to everyone, I'm looking forward to the next one for sure.

Re: Skyfall (2012)

Bardem stole the show, hasn't been a villain like him in a long time.

When this trilogy launched, it started as a remake of Casino Royale. But I thought it was quite coincidental that they introduced Moneypenny at the end, and of course Fines being the male M. Which was the status quo for Bond films before Mendes' Casino Royale. Which got me wondering if Mendes somehow pulled a prequel on us without ever stating it.

Re:

Good observations, all. The prequel angle never occurred to me. I was just thinking...oh..that's a new Moneypenny & a new M. Interesting. What does everyone think of the new Q?

Re: Skyfall (2012)

Will they keep this Q in subsequent movies? Will the entire cast change?

The new Q seems like another 'tool' used to reinforce the old vs new theme in the film but cool gadgets is as much a part of Bond as the Aston Martin. I was a bit disappointed with the cyber-angle on this. Would've preferred to see updated gadgets that incorporated the cyber bits rather than a purely white-hat Q.

Re:

Bring back the gadgets! I do prefer a 'older' Q also. Hopefully, they won't harp on the cyber warfare in the next one. I did enjoy it when they brought out the original Aston DB5. Sucked when it got all shot up! :x

Re: Skyfall (2012)

Yeah it was great seeing the DB5 with the ejector seat and guns in the headlights  Again, they seem to work the old vs new theme to death with the DB5 being blown up.

[COLOR=#d3d3d3][FONT=verdana]The color, shadows and lighting were amazing... Roger Deakins and his team have done an outstanding job :) And when I looked at his filmography it all makes sense. Here is a nice set of images from the movie

Re: Skyfall (2012)

It's a good return to form - not quite the discovery that Casino Royale was, but damn close.

I don't think the Quantuum storyline has been abandoned yet, I think we'll see it return in the next two movies, and I get the feeling that we're going to be treated to the modern equivalent of Stavro Von Blofeld.

Still, it was nice to see Sam Mendes screwing around with the formula a bit more, playing with the camera work and giving a bit more of a surreal feel to the film (ie, the blurry opening that replaced the standard gun barrel shot that usually opens the films), and playing around a bit more with Bond's past, including giving him some mother issues that explain his relationship w/ M.

They killed the DB5, negative markings just for that.

I really enjoyed this film, thought the cinematography was great, enjoyed the characters, story line, it all seemed to work well.

I love the scenes of Shanghai, so futuristic and Blade Runner-esque, such a shit hole in reality. Amazing what some Technicolor gloss can do

According to the radio news last night, it's one of the most polluted cities in China.

Re: Skyfall (2012)

Beijing is the most polluted at the moment, you can't see anything from the sky.
