I've heard about this one for a while and have been looking forward to it based on what I read. This is based on a true story and looks like it will be great, mainly since Affleck has been a great director.

Great cast too.

Looks solid.

Agree he is a top director. Gone Baby Gone was pretty good.

Enjoyed this film very much, unfortunately it was so hyped up I entered the theater with unrealistic expectations. But it is certainly worth seeing.

Enjoyable, loved the start when Affleck weaved through the office. I'd expected more comedy and Goodman.

Re: Argo (2012) - Directed by Ben Affleck

Enjoyed everything up to the ending, where Affleck gave into a very cliché moment when the plane was starting to take off. After showing his chops with Gone Baby Gone and The Town, I felt having that particular moment took me out of things. I'm all for artistic license, but c'mon, did he really have to go with such a standard moment in any escape film?

But still it's a very good movie and he's an excellent director - I thought he should have got a best director nod with the Academy.

^The hand shake? I found that part strange as well, it was incredibly cliche. But, the film was supposed to have taken place at that time, that's probably a accurate scenario. I'm sure they battled over it with Matt and whoever else gave him notes.

^I think probably the part where they are on the plane pulling away and then the bad guys break thru the gate and rush down the runway about stopping the plane. It was funny because when I went to see this in the theater someone said the exact same thing that it was a bit cliche.

The whole film was cliche then. it was one big throwback, was it not?

Bingo, it was silly to include this, as the meeting through customs was tense enough when they were trying to get through. Also, the Iranians never did this and weren't aware of the deception until a few days afterwards. I'm all for artistic license, but that moment took me out of the movie.

They might as well have had people walking away from the airport in slow motion with an explosion in the background. The jeeps chasing the plane just as they were taking off was silly.

I enjoyed it, but it was easily forgettable... it lacked something, I can't put my finger on it exactly.

Multi-tasking and watching a movie is never good, give it a good screening when you have 2 hours to spare. It's really well made. Agreed to the cliche bit of nearly being caught, I completely anticipated that part from the moment that dude in the Land Rover stopped by the Canadian Ambassador's residence and spoke with the maid. They couldn't have let the movie end without that guy figuring it out and doing something to stop their escape.

The opening scene, invasion of the Embassy, market scenes, the riveting screening before departure and Ben Afflecks ever-reserved personality just topped it all off for me. And the end of the movie when the credits roll and a jump back into time showing all the IDs of the people they helped escape including photos from the embassy invasion and Tony Mendez shaking hands with Carter all summed up the movie very well. I truly haven't enjoyed a movie like this in quite a while.
