Saw this today. What does everyone else think? I thought it was pretty well done and entertaining. Are they making this a trilogy? I can't find anything on imdb about part 2 yet.

Judging by this review: http://www.abc.net.au/atthemovies/txt/s3442322.htm

I'll give it a pass.
But expectations are quickly dashed. Never before have I seen a film in which the action scenes are so badly shot and edited that you not only can't tell who's fighting who, you can't even tell which sex they are.
I can tell just by this quote this person doesn't like any shaky cam at all. I didn't think there was too much of it, only some parts here and there. The last couple Bourne movies were way more annoying.

Re: The Hunger Games (2012)

Yeah true. Can't really judge it as of yet, but anything that gets a teenage movement around it, is usually pretty shite.

People have already seen it, and mostly say meh...

It was an eye opener to see that a movie who targeted a younger audience had the main theme of children killing each other for survival.

Re:

This movie reminds me too much of Running Man. I'll wait for the Red Box.

Re: The Hunger Games (2012)

to me it just came across as a Battle Royale rip-off but it least it was still much better than Twilight ... was pleasantly surprised that Lenny Kravitz's acting was quite decent

I will likely never see this film, the whole story is uninteresting to me personally. Glad so many people have enjoyed the books though .

Re: The Hunger Games (2012)

Saw this yesterday - I enjoyed it - liked the whole way it was put together without much dramatic music to prompt scenes

Re: The Hunger Games (2012)

I dunno why this is new to me but the children's market must be huge, all these movies adapted from teenage books and so many fantasy books now targeted at children. No doubt thanks to Twilight and Harry Potter.

Just the fact how big the market is for early teenagers etc.

Re: The Hunger Games (2012)

Underwhelmed by the movie. The first book was MUCH better.

Re: The Hunger Games (2012)

I thought it was okay, the direction wasn't anything hugely special, and I got the impression that the people that read the books before seeing the film would probably feel more rewarded than I did.

I kind of wish they prepared me more for the rules and some of the finer details - the parachuting in of supplies seemed almost cartoonish and same goes for the manipulation of the environment. I felt that those parts were kind of lacking explanation on the mechanics behind it.

Re: The Hunger Games (2012)

The age restriction was 16 in South Africa and because the cinemas lost so much revenue they changed it to 13:unsure:
