Re: The Avengers (2011)

The Avengers = (estimating) 2hrs of KABOOM!!

Would have preferred Edward Norton to play the role of Dr. Banner but to hell with it, just strap on your 3D specs and prepare for EXPLOSIONS!

Granted, I never judge what I'm going to see by box office results (coughcough Titanic:x). However, I've heard nothing but good reviews from the people that I've talked to that saw it this past weekend. Definitely gonna check it out this week!

Re: The Avengers (2011)

saw it saturday... i was very pleasantly surprised. there was action, drama, and some pretty good humor. plot seemed stereotypical, but the action was great.

the only thing that i didn't like was to learn that another spiderman movie is coming out.

Re: The Avengers (2011)

I think we might be surprised by the Spiderman movie.

Avengers was thoroughly enjoyable, Marvel clearly pulled out all the stops for this. I thought the Thor movie was kinda cheesy and the Hulk movie so-so, only the Iron Man franchise has been enjoyable. But Marvel managed to keep the Iron Man verve and panache, while elevating Thor and Hulk. You'd think Iron Man would steal the show seeing as it was the movie that jumpstarted Avengers, but Thor and Hulk were equally impressive. The battle sequences were absolutely amazing. As a comic book fan, seeing all the heroes in action, seeing the edits jump from character to character, seeing Hulk smashing stuff up with Iron Man flying in the background, Thor and Hulk together, Thor with Captain America, was a comic geek's wet dream.

Some of the best scenes were Thor vs Captain America, Thor vs Hulk, Thor vs Iron Man, Hulk snatching Iron Man outta the sky, and Hulk slapping Loki around  The rest of the alien invasion were simply cannon fodder

Wasn't crazy about Black Widow and Hawkeye but I suppose they balance the superheroic with more mundane human element.

I think they could've tried doing a bit more with Captain America, the super soldier was lacking. And his costume really really sucked.

Re: The Avengers (2011)

Watched this in 3D today and loved every moment of it. Would hate to post any spoilers as this is a must watch movie at any level... action, adventure, comedy, fantasy... an all round feel good movie.

I love the way I've been reading/hearing about lack of story line or predictable story line... for crying out loud this is a Super Hero movie... yes the story line will be predictable.. come on people! This shouldn't deter one catching this flick. The amazing direction and comic timing of the ever so talented Mr Joss Whedon. With due respect I say.. his time has finally come :)

I heard you gotta watch after the credits for more stuff?

Re: The Avengers (2011)

The usual you've come to expect from Marvel movies, teaser shots that hint at what might be next. The teaser shot in Avengers hint at cosmic epicness. The US print gets an extra scene which is no big deal, more for laughs.

Absolutely loved it. "Weak God" the part where hulk body slams the shit out of Loki was unbelievably hilarious. Give it a solid 8/10

Re: The Avengers (2011)

The end of the credits was funny, but you really didn't miss anything. It's worth fast-forwarding to if you rent the movie later

Re: The Avengers (2011)

saw this on saturday too. great flick, but a little on the long side, meaning, that they could have cut out some unnecessary parts.

what happened after the credits?

i liked the fact that I didn't have to see Thor or Captain America or Ironman or The INcredible Hulk films to appreciate The Avengers.

note: it would be stupid not to see this on the large 3d screen. don't even bother renting it. go see a matinee!

Considering the number of characters and the pacing, I thought it did a good job, didn't feel long to me at all.
