welcome to february 2006's edition of mercuryrising. this month, staying true to form, i have plucked one of our very own for a guest mix. [ms]'er[B] [COLOR=SandyBrown]Leo Vak[/COLOR] [COLOR=SandyBrown][LV-8][/COLOR] [/B]hailing from the dirtiest alleys of new jersey with a mix that sounds like a bad dream. i mean that in a naughty way. i couldnt stop bouncing around when i was listening to this. makes me think of miami and that makes my pants dance!

as for me, i have laid down a more 'opening set' kind of mix this month. so for the first time i'm going to air my mix first and let leo's grab you and thrash you afterwards. hope you enjoy.

Both were excellent sets IMO! I like the chilled, atmospheric and at times spaced-out sounding deep proggy goodness of Steve's set. It left me with a very peaceful post-listen frame of mind. Leo Vak's set was great as well. It was interesting to hear some familiar 303ish acidy builds, funk saturated chunky bass lines with inserted techy sounds and some sporadic housy samples all fused into a progressive set.

I really enjoyed this "atmospheric" prog too. Nice relaxing spacey sounds. Epic music. The second track wouldn't happen to have a title eh Steve? Simply gorgeous. Nice work man. I'll comment on Leo's mix when I get a chance to hear it tomorrow. Cheers guys.

Oh Steve, I have listened to your set also. Nice relaxed mix. Havent played around with the down tempo much myself, but I liked it. You and Garrick should thow down a "Back to Mine" comp. The both of you seem to have the layed back beats down!

i tried a downtempo mix sometime last year, but it came out terribly. some tracks are 80bpm, others are 130.. very hard to make those work.

... now the slow, chuggin, building house music, i can layer all day ;)
