John Digweed - Fabric London 13.11.2004

These sets appeared along with the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai set from the same source. I thought I would post them for a bit of fun with a poll as to who thinks its Digweed or who thinks its fake. None of these sets are recordings of the nights they have be labeled as that is definite. But some people are still convinced its Digweed playing. Anyone got any opinions:?:

hmm skipping through the 2004 one now and only track i'd associate with diggers really is cosmic sandwich and honky tonk man

actually i'm not so sure, if it's not digweed it's still pretty banging id @ 1.51 please and at 2:!2ish, 2:50, 3:16?! there's too many. this is a great set!

Re: Possible Fake 4 Hour Fabric London Sets 13.11.2004 & 12.02.2005

2005 was one of my favourite years for digweed and i skipped through the 2005 set and didn't think it sounded like anything he was spinning at that time til i heard nikki b ad christian effe - eyes @ 2.57 that threw me. i think the 2004 set is more likely to be digweed than the 2005 set if i was to put my money where my mouth is

Re: Possible Fake 4 Hour Fabric London Sets 13.11.2004 & 12.02.2005

^^ LOL 2005 for me was one of his weakest (the 1st half at least) - he played tons of Electro in March @ Bedrock (Godskitchen) and it was a wasted trip.

By September 2005 he was back on form @ Pacha.

I'm surprised to hear that mate. I have zero Digweed sets from 2005 and the only one from 2004 is Dubai. A couple dark years fro edm as a whole imo. Digweed or not the Fabric set is a banger as was that grand Hyatt one from 2005. Funny nobody's owned up to it.

i vaguely remember these and that by itself should say a lot... plus i never put these on cd so they obviously weren't very good.

i think i remember there being some controversy about these when they showed up for sure..

any controversy imo = straight to the trash. i say they are fake.

Neither of those sets are anything like what he played at the times. Just check for Transitions-live mixes from the time.

Re: Possible Fake 4 Hour Fabric London Sets 13.11.2004 & 12.02.2005

I haven't listened to the one supposedly from 2004 but, as for the one from 2005, here's a video someone from this website made from the night: http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=1481519670063671589&ei=pQWMSvOSLdHF-Abpj63gAw&q=Digweed+2005+Fabric+video&hl=en

I saw him the same month at Shindig, Newcastle for four hours and he was excellent; No Stoppin' Love and the Freeform Five tune went down a storm, in particular. Similar tracks to the parts of his Pawnshop set that were broadcast :)

mmm I think there was a thead about these mixes on [ms] some years ago where they were also questioned and I think the conclusion was that they are fake but I am an old faggot and too lazy to search so I could also be wrong.

Re: Possible Fake 4 Hour Fabric London Sets 13.11.2004 & 12.02.2005

I just heard it this weekend (the 2005 one) and although it has the Digweed sound... what people have said about 2005, he was quite into the elctro-ish sound then.

whatever/whoever that set belongs too... I do enjoy it....

Anyone have any good dark chugging Digweed like that '05 Fabric... that are actually Digweed for sure?? I'd enjoy some of that.

There is no way on earth its from that date. I saw Sasha & Digweed at SW4 on 2005.08.23 and Digweed played loads of tracks from the Southfest Buenos Aires set.

Also I got this set on the 06. May 2005 I know this because the person who posted these two sets on GU also had the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai 05.05.2005 and it was from the previous day which is why everyone went mad for it.

Re: Possible Fake 4 Hour Fabric London Sets 13.11.2004 & 12.02.2005

I was at the Fabric Feb 2005 set. He played for 6+ hours, something like 2-8 am. He first stopped around 6:30 then did an "encore" that ended up lasting for another hour and a half :D. Towards the end he played a lot of the tracks from the Fabric 20 mix, which came out around then.

So if the 2005 set doesn't match this description it would have to be either the FIRST three hours or was fake. I can't pretend to remember the entire night from four years ago, that's kinda the point of seeing him, but it doesn't sound right to me. I'd vote for fake.

I know the 2004 mix pretty well if it's the 4+ hour one. I think he DID play at Fabric in OCTOBER 2004, so there's a chance the just the month is off. The last couple hours definitely sound like what he was playing live. I have heard him play some of those tracks at other venues if it matters. I hope it's real.

OK, but my points were:

Does the 05 set sound like what I remember from that night: no Does the 04 set sound like several other Digweed sets I was at around that time: yes

Re: Possible Fake 4 Hour Fabric London Sets 13.11.2004 & 12.02.2005

Digweed was in Japan around this time in 2004 - he played a Private Diesel Collection Party on the 19th (followed by Ageha on the 20th November and Space Lab Yellow on the 22nd).

Sorry, the 2004 set bares little resemblence to what he was playing then. So I'm leaning towards a Nathan Fake.

The authenticity of these caused around a 50 page thread at the time! someone contacted digweed and he said it was not him.

There are instances when DJ's played completely different tracks at live gigs as opposed to their regular radio shows. I have seen this happen in many occasions

Fabric sets don't get leaked. Besides, neither of these reflect what was on rotation during those time periods.
