Indeed. I wonder how many people are paying for the subscription service.

A thread can be useful for tracklists and IDs, links cannot be posted here but it's not like they're impossible to find elsewhere.

Probably, because there are no links, and people can't be asked with MixCloud, so they don't listen anymore.

I still listen but they’ve been a bit not my thing lately. Good tunes here and there but the grooves are lacking

I am still listening to each one. They are a much needed bright spot these days.

I agree, each week just seems to get less interesting. This weeks is the first diggers mix I've heard, maybe ever, that I've not liked a single track. It's just getting samey now, some of it noise. That's the worst Kris Davies track I've heard by him too and I usually like his shit.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #38 (2021-02-27)

to be fair, it's gotta be a pain in the ass to come up with a completely fresh set every week. if he was playing clubs he wouldn't have to rotate the whole box every week.

Yeh fair point, I'm not liking the direction of the music at all though. Reminds me of how it got with prog circa 98-2000. Just run of the mill sounding tracks of no particular significance. I don't really like the quattro stuff either, most of it just sounds forgettable. The direction the whole genre has taken or the direction he's taken doesn't appeal to me one bit. This weeks bunker a prime example of it. It's been heading in this direction for a while I think the whole genre is running out of ideas. Needs shaking up a bit with something fresh. Ian O'Donovan just sounds like he releases the same track over and over. Can't see the attraction with his stuff at all. Must prefer diggers when he plays the obscure not the obvious.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #38 (2021-02-27)

I spent more time than I should admit thinking about some of the comments (that are more observations in my opinions) regarding the Bunker sets, music these days coming out of Bedrock, the direction that Digweed is apparently going in....Quattro II, etc....

With regards to the Bunkers...looking back at 35 which came after a bit of a break...and it fucking delivered on all fronts. 36 was ok and the last two were just for me, kind of like fillers. They reminded me a bit of the Nine Inch Nails "Ghosts" albums...analogue and digital machine instrumental albums that people only cared about because it was Trent Reznor, or because they are nerds who appreciate that kind of production (nerd being a compliment here).

With regards to Bedrock and the music coming out of there.....it's a bit of a challenge to say something definitive. Great music comes out of that label, and as a brand, I think Digweed/Bedrock are in a league all on their own. I think the projects that they did this past year of opening up a remix competition were forward thinking, community building ideas....a way to fuel creativity and earn a place in the Bedrock family.

Now as far as the type of music it's putting out....the EP by Magdalena had some awesome techno on it...particularly that track "outlines." I think people want more of that. We're a year into a fucking pandemic and I think people want music that makes them feel good and happy and wanting to dance...I think when clubs open again, people are going to want to go fucking balls to the wall wild. Also, what makes me feel good musically might be different from someone that just wants dark, kick driven bass beats while they face fuck a speaker to feel closer to the low end.

Can't speak much to Quattro II...I'm 48 minutes into the Soundscapes disc and I fucking like what I'm hearing. I said the same thing about Quattro last year and I haven't gone back to listen to it since then, though I suppose now is a good time to do that....and I know the tracks by Miles Atmospheric will still do it for me...that was some fun, feel good break beat funkiness.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #38 (2021-02-27)

Since the links died I haven’t listened to a single Bunker. He has surely lost listeners by moving to subscription only?
Since the links died I haven’t listened to a single Bunker. He has surely lost listeners by moving to subscription only?
It's been subscription only all along, officially. Links can still be found, if you know where to look. Otherwise, pay a few $ to listen.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #38 (2021-02-27)

I should have added that the Bunkers are not an essential listen for me. I’m sure they will surface down the line and I will listen then.

I was considering the subscription option but all I hear is how bad the sound quality is so I didn’t explore it any further.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #38 (2021-02-27)

That All Day I Dream sound is way overdone - fluff filler and mediocre - borderline lounge music. Want to hear something more exciting. I like that Dino Lenny mix on Transitions recently.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #38 (2021-02-27)

The ADID sound has been as tired as an octogenarian hookers minge for well over a year.

Every track sounds the fucking same!

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #38 (2021-02-27)

I finished listening ADID set a couple of months ago. Too repetitive sound, really boring music...and I think not even danceable at the club.

I can't tell if that bomb ID at 72 minutes is from 1999 or 2021, but it's a gem!
