Re: John Digweed - Bunker #34 NYE

It didn't last long up there - Lawyers probably shitting their pants.

I reckon that there are groups of users who are managing to share high quality copies though. Would love to get in on that.
Is it the Mr Hell Flac?
There is that user and one called RogueSun

#1804732Post 50 of 109

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #34 NYE

RogueSun is the one you want - managed to get all the shows I was missing since the ban plus the NYE show off him or her late last night.

I did find Mr Hell on there, but he promptly removed the file whilst I had it queued up. Looks like he seeded it out for a while, then took the folder off line.

#1804733Post 51 of 109

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #34 NYE

Can you seeded it privately?

I've fired up Soulseek for a few hours. You should find the NYE FLAC file if you search my name on it.

Unlikely on Soulseek. Besides, once I've seeded it out to a few people, the responsibility passes to them to pass on the goodwill.

Found the mix. Haven´t used Soulseek for a very long time.

#1804759Post 61 of 109

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #34 NYE

Well, I've seeded out to 5 people in full tonight, a sixth person is on a slow connection, so hopefully will find someone else to finish them off as I'm not leaving my PC switched on all night (and they've still managed to get over 64% of the file) and 3 other people have logged off or cancelled part way through. I've also seeded out copies of Bunkers 31 through 33. So that's me done now, I've done my fair share and I don't want a telling off from whomever.

Over to those of you who managed to get copies tonight to pay it forward...

seems soulseek is now locked down. everyone who had it shared over the past 2 days now either removed the files from their shared folders or have locked them :)

The user that usually shares them on TM has the flac now, I wouldn't be surprised if it surfaces soon

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #34 NYE

How do they get someone to take it down on soulseek? It's not like it's a website, there's no administrators to complain to. How would you even track down the person sharing, you could send them a message, but that is about it.

Roll on bunker 35 !!!

When do we reckon he will do another??

#1804794Post 76 of 109

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #34 NYE

I have to say this really met expectations. This is the kind of set that I want to hear on NYE. He got the right balance of old and new tracks, he didn't play anything obvious, and he put it together masterfully. Most of the time, classics set don't work because the track selection is all over the place and it just feels like a load of random tracks one after the other. This I will listen to a few times more.

End of January, most DJ's and clubs take the month off, saying that, it's not like there is anything else to do.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker #34 NYE

With regards to classics...I've been thinking a lot about what makes it a classic. Sound and feel certainly play into it, but can it be a classic to someone who has never heard it before, and has no idea about the era that record came from? Is the song a classic because of what it is, as a standalone, or because of the nostalgia it brings.

If in 200 years people are living in outer space on colonies, and a DJ played BPT-Moody, would it be a classic or would it be lost on everyone there?

Probably not in 200 years, but Digweed, dug out many tracks that he played back in the 90's 00's and even the 10's. These tracks had relevance to the people that were there at the time, including himself. It wasn't like he had never heard them tracks until last week, they weren't new. Maybe it is just the connection that the person playing and the person listening has about them tracks. To me a classic is more subtle than playing something like Donna Summer - I Feel Love, which gets a good response. This was a good example from this set but there were many others.

Maybe you're right and it is just nostalgia, without the hands in the air moment.

Hopefully sooner, he has Quattro 2 to plug for release in February, I reckon a couple of weeks and he will be back.
