Re: John Digweed - Bunker Session #20 (01-08-20)

Wonder if he had a refresher with the vinyl this week, or he's going in the deep end. Very much looking forward to this regardless.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker Session #20 (01-08-20)

I guess mixing on vinyls needs more focusing this is why i played 2 hours only, but this is a rare from John so i'm still happy. Aaaand probably because he's perfectionist, so less play means less mistake as well, but that's just my view. And also probably most of the tracks he plays nowdays aren't avaliable on vinyl so he can't really play what he really wants to.

To be honest i never ever saw him live not to mention seeing him mixing live on vinyls, so i'm really-really-really happy to able to see him this close.

Funny his technique mixing/adjusting tracks (his hand movements etc.) on a CDJ and a vinyl are pretty similiar, i could spot him among hundreds if a saw. :D

This was alright, but hardly mind blowing, Vinyl or not.

agreed!

I don't know if he wanted to avoid going with the classics and played some more obscure stuff, but it just felt it wasn't going anywhere.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker Session #20 (01-08-20)

Like the rest of you it seems, was a bit underwhelmed by the set as a whole. 99 & A Half is still a cracking tune though.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker Session #20 (01-08-20)

Look forward to hearing this and find out how boring it is!

It's so hard to be Digweed when he's set the bar so high; when most of his peers have given up and are phoning it in!

Re: John Digweed - Bunker Session #20 (01-08-20)

well maybe the set was a bit underwhelming because he hasn't played vinyl in 17 or 18 years....

Solid set.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker Session #20 (01-08-20)

Have not heard it yet, I do see the tracklisting though. Definitely not a complaining, cause anything John puts out is a blessing to have and hear. But I was surprised to not see more classic records on there. I guess assuming it was a vinyl set, he would play mostly old school stuff. Only reason I say that too, is that alot of these Bunker Sessions are full of very old school house tracks:RockOn:.Either way, hes the DJ, i will let him pick and program the sets and I can't wait to download and play this week's set.

BTW, I love that he has been playing C12- Judy more again, such a badass track

Re: John Digweed - Bunker Session #20 (01-08-20)

Wasn't billed as a vinyl classics set - just JD playing a range of music at home. Also pretty much unplanned - just a few slabs of vinyl and put together on the fly. Each week has been different at least .. little to no repetition of tracks. Based on R rate, plenty of future opportunities ahead.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker Session #20 (01-08-20)

True, wasnt billed as a "Classic Set", like I said, no complaints, more pleasant surprise. And yeah very little to no repeat tracks over the 20 weeks, although I feel he could play continuously day and night for 20 weeks and still not repeat many tracks 8)

Re: John Digweed - Bunker Session #20 (01-08-20)

aside from a couple of them that i really love, i think #2 and #13, i enjoy these more if i can watch them live. they are a nice distraction and the chat usually has good vibes

Re: John Digweed - Bunker Session #20 (01-08-20)

i miss the energy in transitions like the one 1:11-1:13, maybe it's because it's not completely in sync like when the computer does it

Re: John Digweed - Bunker Session #20 (01-08-20)

As per a few others, I was very underwhelmed at this set. Not on a par with some other Bunker sets.

What was the purpose of the first 25 minutes or so? I often wonder if DJs sometimes play tracks like that to see how long people will last before saying 'isn't this literally the same 30 second track over and over and over'?

Anyway, onwards to Bunker 21

That's a really odd track and not something I'd associate with Digweed.
