Re: John Digweed - Bunker session #9 (09.05.2020.)

Now dj mixes are protected by copyright. Not by the producers of the tracks but by the DJ who played them and a third party, a website who did not input anything but just had the idea. Producers will be paid a tiny fraction, if they will be at all.

People complaining about Babicz or Dixon putting a Buy It link in the past are silent now.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker session #9 (09.05.2020.)

decent copies are thin on the ground this time round!

everything i've found has audio dropouts.

I wonder when moodmosaic is going to pop up with his copy.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker session #9 (09.05.2020.)

I don't see problem with the pay-per- listen model as long as those producers whose music has been played get some royalty from it. Especially during these strange times..

In the pre-Covid world I thought that having exposure from the djs like Digweed, Sasha is enough to get you on the promoters map which brings a lot more money than royalties from the Mixcloud, Spotify, etc.. Since there are no bookings until who knows when, every penny matters for those producers.

There is recent interview with Digweed regarding this issue on change underground: Digweed - Is It Time Music Makers Are Paid By Live Streaming Services For Their Content? | CU

EDIT: Interesting to watch the impact that COVID has on every aspect of our life..

Why do you want to pay Mixcloud? What did they do to earn it? Pay me or MS instead! 20 years of free music! Free actually means server/Soundcloud/Hearthis fees. Fuck Mixcloud.

Lol, they get their share anyway, it's been like that for years. Only, Mixcloud used to pay them, not fans.

Re: John Digweed - Bunker session #9 (09.05.2020.)

Not a problem to pay Digweed for his bunker sessions, the problem is i cant actually manage the files themselves. Maybe i wanna put them on my mediaplayer to listen offline. But i cant! So no, i would say no to Mixcloud select system.

It's sure as hell not a flac, but the version I got from Tribal Mixes seems OK. Could do with your loving touch though...

I am not paying Mixcloud or any other streaming site. I don't think that mixes should be paid because I always thought that mixes are promotional tool which will help djs get more gigs. Not inculding commercially available mixes like Quattro. I try to support label/producers through the other channels..And I try to support platforms from where I get "free" mixes. :)

I didn't know that. I know that Spotify numbers are very low, but I didn't know anything regarding Mixclouds bussiness plan.

I have no issue paying a monthly fee to Soundcloud for higher sound quality & the mixes made available for either download or stream. Mixcloud on the other hand, sound quality is shit house, plus you're expected to pay a subscription fee for individual artists, not a one size fits all subscription for the entire website, they are kidding themselves.

To be honest I'm not surprised by this pay-per listen movement we starting to see, I mean, DJ's want to get paid somehow right? Reality is, festivals won't be around for a while & while clubs will open a lot sooner, touring will be a while away with border restrictions.

Great thing about the internet however, content is almost always made available one way or another.
