No f*^$&ing point for it to be in FLAC, though. You know it was just converted from a bullshit MP3.

Re: John Digweed - Essential Mix (1995-09-03) FLAC

^Here's another one. It's an original (as in the night it was broadcast) analog recording on tape, for fuck's sake!
SOURCE: FM Radio ⇒ My own looked after (1 x TDK D120) cassette tape ⇒ Abelton Live (via USB Tape deck) ⇒ WAV ⇒ Audacity 1.3.12 (beta) [Edited] ⇒ MP3 (via lame 3.98.3 @ VBR~0 using the ‘lame –V0 –q0 -–lowpass16’ setting.). No audio processing has been done to the original recording, as this is how it was when it was originally captured.

This complete Essential Mix has the full intro & outro and has been lovingly recorded, joined and converted. The sound produced has good clarity, no clipping and less hiss, and is very good considering the age of the tape. It also plays at the correct speed.

Re: John Digweed - Essential Mix (1995-09-03) FLAC

People think that in 1994-5 there used to be mp3 streams like today. ALL VERSIONS are from an analog source, this is an alternative to the one everybody knows. It sounds obvious but apparently it's not.

Re: John Digweed - Essential Mix (1995-09-03) FLAC

People don't realize the fact that we have each and every Essential Mix in history because some passionate music lover bothered to record them.

very true.. i remember 1015 Folsom in SF used to have a lot of their club nights (90s to 2000-ish) available for streaming. bad part is that they were all RealMedia files so you could never get an mp3 rip but instead needed to record them manually while listening and hope no internal computer sound popped up. there are a few out there but a lot went the wayside... Deep Dish, Behrouz, Jimmy Van M, etc.
