New Comers No Regular Play provide one of Supplement Facts biggest records to date. Get Ready, we are about to re-write the rule books. The two original tacks are a powerhouse lesson in todays house music, blurring the lines between all the Genres that make our loins burn. With an exclusive remix from Life & Death this is destined to be one of the records of the summer.

a1 :: Fall Up To The Sky (ft. Maya Hatch) b1 :: Lookin b2 :: Lookin (Life & Death Remix)

Guy Gerber’s Supplement Facts imprint continues to drop the bombs, this time courtesy of Brooklyn-based duo No Regular Play, with their searing package ‘Fall Up To The Sky’ featuring the molten vocals of Maya Hatch and a blinding remix from Life and Death.

The EP came about after label head Guy Gerber heard a recording of an NRP live set at an after party and was struck by one particular synth line, so much so that he contacted the pair shortly after to discuss a release. A prevailing musical connection on both sides made Supplement Facts the natural destination for ‘Lookin’ - a track four years in the making. Having been a staple of the NRP live set through multiple reincarnations, the final version (built around the original synth line) was made especially for Supplement Facts and now features the vocals of Nick’s cousin, Maya Hatch, who delivers the perfect female response to Greg’s original musings.

In ‘Fall Up To The Sky’, Maya’s luscious voice infiltrates deep alongside warm gliding synth pads and the techy drive of the kicks craft a tight swinging groove. ‘Lookin’ carries the trademark NRP lilt that’s laid back and bumping in equal measure. Idiosyncratic purrs, human and discoid, dapple the kicking groove and Greg’s sultry sleaze is the perfect playmate for the moody, strutting bassline. When the oscillating synth finally impacts it’s a streak of rave gold in the track’s armour.

Life and Death turn in a stunning rework of ‘Lookin’ in which Greg’s vocal is toned down to a melancholy murmur and the emotive chords sweep over the bouncing bassline and crisp percussive beats. Shrouded in mystery and the subject of much acclaim in electronic music circles, the band and label Life and Death is the creative project that keeps on giving, responsible for some of 2011’s most innovative music. Greg Paulus and Nick DeBryn met in Minnesota aged 8 and have been bonded by a mutual study and appreciation for a wide spectrum of sounds ever since.

Inaugurated at the legendary Marcy Hotel, home to the Wolf + Lamb family, a melting pot of musical influences ultimately boiled down to No Regular Play. The NRP evolution continues with the near completion of an orchestra piece for the Minnesota Orchestra and the duo are preparing to release their debut album

Ibiza Voice Review [7.5/10]

Guy Gerber's Supplement Facts has long maintained a reputation for the quirky, the off-kilter and the downright strange. How apt then, that the most-recent proponents to step up to the label plate are Brooklyn duo No Regular Play, who offer up another intriguing instalment of left-field, “slo-mo” house of the type they've built a career on. Well at least that's what happens on the title track, “Fall up to the Sky”, their collaboration with Maya Hatch - the cousin incidentally, of NRP's Nick deBruyn. So yes, it'd be easy to scrutinise the choice of vocalist, but deBruyn's choice makes for an inspired one, as Hatch's lyrical contribution sounds luscious, sultry and assured alongside the track's popping synths, brash kicks and pitched down tones.

The end result is a groovy, chilled-out number, that like so much of NRP's work (and that of their oft-associated compatriot Nicolaas Jaar) make it ripe for remixing. The more up-tempo “Lookin” we're told, has been four years in the making; a continuous melding of minds between Paulus, deBruyn and Gerber, with the latter gaining a fascination some year's back with the track's now finely-tuned synth line. A very different beast than “Fall up to the Sky”; “Lookin”, with its grinding loops and rhyming vocal, is a unique gem, sculpted more obviously with the dance floor in mind.

Life and Death then offer up a remix of “Lookin” that, (in keeping with their mysterious, unidentifiable demeanour), is draped in gothic overtones; with a barrage of drums and a more melancholic vocal playing out over its emotional chords in a manner reminiscent of say, Art Department or Tale of Us. While 2011 has proved a relatively quiet year thus far for Supplement Facts, just like the story behind “Lookin”, good things do indeed come to those wait.

CAT NUMBER: VQ06 RELEASE DATE: 12 Sep '11

A1. Teka B1. This Is Your Heart B2. Time To Lose It

Chilean-born, Berlin based Dinky needs no introduction (but here's one anyway...), DJing and producing for over a decade, releasing some serious game-changers on labels Cocoon (the classic ‘Acid In My Fridge’ recently reworked by the Visionquest boys), Wagon Repair, Crosstown Rebels and most recently Ostgut Ton, Dinky also runs her own imprint, Horizontal, specialising in her distinct brand of organic tech-house.

Comprising three original cuts, the ‘Time To Lose It EP’ marks a re-entry into the limelight for Dinky who has, for over a decade, carved a sound encompassing experimental strains of techno, soulful minimal and ambient pop. Releasing some serious game-changers on labels Cocoon (the ubiquitous ‘Acid In My Fridge’ recently reworked by the Visionquest boys), Wagon Repair (‘Anemik’ LP, one of RA’s albums of the year 2010), Crosstown Rebels (‘Get Lost 03’ mix CD) and most recently Osgut Ton, Dinky also runs her own imprint, Horizontal, specialising in her distinct brand of organic tech-house.

A-side ‘Teka’ flows with interwoven percussive grooves, effortlessly smooth with a softly built momentum and looping vocal samples that echo, tumble and fall. The light kicks take it into minimal terrain while the whizzing synths give it that psychedelic rave factor. As with all Dinky tracks ‘Teka’ has a pure, enveloping quality that will no doubt grip the dancefloor.

"The actual song is 9 minutes.. the arpeggio hook was programmed with a Prophet 8 keyboard" [Dinky talking about Teka]

‘This Is Your Heart’ presents a swirl of ambient waves and housey congas, spliced with shimmering percs and interjections of the sweetly melancholic voice repeating, “This Is Your Heart”. Never limiting herself to one style, Dinky always imbues her work with an element of fantasy as well as drive.

Another case in point is third and title track ‘Time To Lose It’. A voyage into languorous, trippy funk balanced by an absorbing folkloric hymn, it’s easy to get lost in the lush melodic, groove and spaced out beats. Creating three entirely different moods across this trio of tracks is Dinky showcasing her world-class ability to seize the principals of dance music and infuse them with her vital heart and soul.

Guy Gerber´s Supplement Facts introduces a brand new project shrouded in mystery and represented by the uncompromising figure ´11:11´ ¨The time in which......different worlds collide"

11 is a double digit and is therefore considered a Master or Power Number. In Numerology 11 represents impractical idealism, visionary, refinement of ideals, intuition, revelation, artistic and inventive genius, avant-garde, androgynous, film, fame, refinement fulfilled when working with a practical partner.

This can presently be perceived as a crack between two worlds. It is like a bridge which has the inherent potential of linking together two very different spirals of energy. As we unite together as One, bringing together our fragments of the key, we not only create the key, but we make visible the Doorway.

Guy Gerber interview on the 11:11 project

"I almost finished my album with P Diddy under our project name 11.11 and also I have compiled my favourite music pieces from my label Supplement Facts. I have made a few tracks with friends like Deniz Kurtel and Tale of Us and Chaim that are supposed to come out this year. Our project is called 11.11 and it’s about a date when a mystical gate is open and two worlds collide. It’s the beginning of the carnival. It’s the beginning of the end or the start of another dimension.

This project started after Diddy invited me to New York after apparently being influenced by my first album “Late Bloomers” while he was working on his album “Last Train To Paris”. He wanted me to make a remixes album to LTTP but I have chosen to reconstruct all the songs in a different way and created a whole new world of drum machines and high note bass guitars – he really liked it and said why don’t we make a new album together. So in the last two years I’ve been flying to New York and Los Angeles and have also been recording in Tel Aviv what I believe is the future of electronic pop.

We have three more songs to finish and we started a mini project with Juanita Bell from the Howling Bells. We want to make sure we fulfil the ambitious nature of this project. The first single is being mastered as we speak. It’s called ‘Tourist Trap’ and has remixes from Jamie Jones, Visionquest, Soul Clap, Renaissance Man and David K on items. It’s due to be released in the next two months." [Guy Gerber]

04. Ross Evana - Thrilla In Manila [Cocoon Recordings | COR10"009]

Label: Cocoon Recordings Artist: Ross Evana / Caytas and Patz Title: Thrilla in Manila / Deep Blue Sea

A: Thrilla in Manila B: Deep Blue Sea

Cat No.: COR10"009 Format: 10” Single Release Date: 29th August 2011 Release Date digital: 29th August 2011

London resident Ross Evana already excelled as DJ at Pacha NYC, at Ministry of Sound London or in the We Love Space series in Ibiza, and has been ranked # 12 in the Beatport House charts with "Ouija Board". His track "Thrilla in Manila" first takes its time to build up before it sets a tremendously powerful exclamation mark on the dancefloor with its tropical-hypnotic percussions.

With its second track, the ninth edition of Cocoon's 10"-series leads us to the land of the midnight sun. The two Stockholm-born cousins Alex Caytas and Aleks Patz have started their musical collaboration only in 2007 but can already look back on a hand full of very good produced releases for the Stuttgart-based label Parquet Recordings and the Italian label Caremella, as well as on remixes for Martin Dawson/King Roc and Voltique. "Blue Sea" shows the duo's affinity to the energetic Deep House Techno of the Nineties: with its organ sound, blues vocals and a highly infectous bass line, this track could almost pass as a modern and uncluttered version of St. Germain, being predestined for warm summer nights.

Boys No Lyrics adapted from Leonard Cohen's 'Avalanche'. Once again, Erol Alkan and Boys Noize have teamed up, for what has become a stunning re-imagining of last years smash single ‘Avalanche’.. Determined to avoid a taking an obvious route, the pair originally intended to commission a spoken word interpretation- the natural choice was the mellifluous Jarvis Cocker.

Throwing his creative muscle behind the project, it was Jarvis’s inspired choice for him to recite the seminal lyrics of Leonard Cohen’s song of the same name… A handwritten letter and CDR were dispatched to Mr Cohen, who very quickly gave his full and delighted support to the project. All that was left was for Jarvis to add his distinctive twist to the title, in the form of ‘Avalanche (Terminal Velocity)’ despite this unlikely paring of minds the finished work sees the sonorous tones of Mr Cocker riding the megalithic slabs of fizzing synthesis and piston-ing drums with aplomb to mesmeric effect.

On the remix tip the duo enlist the true underground maestro himself Ewan Pearson, who supplies not one, but two different flavours of rerub – the ‘Hall Of The Mountain King Remix’ mix takes the original on a warped acid redux via Chicago, while the ‘Deeper Underground Re-Version’ reroutes proceedings to dubbed out Berlin basement after hours to stunning effect. Not to be out done, hot new talent Canblaster interprets the original as a low-slung bleeptastic old-school electro workout, recalling the early works of Warp, that rounds the package off in glorious style. A very special 12” vinyl will appear soon featuring remixes from Canblaster & Ewan Pearson – keep your eyes peeled

They were also the perfect candidates to remix John Digweed & Nick Muir's Bilder (Bilder01). Now they return to Bedrock with the superb Everybody Loves Ice Cream EP.

The title track is pure, fresh and innovative deep house, which oozes melodic beauty and summer vibes. Wiretappeur’s productions have already earned them heartfelt praise and support from many of their peers as well as a wide variety of the industry's top DJs, including Steve Bug, Luciano and Josh Wink, and Everybody Loves Ice Cream is sure to follow suit. Furry Walls is a more laid-back percussive experience, dubbed-out and spacious in structure with melodic hooks aplenty.

Vincenzo’s remix of Everybody Loves Ice Cream introduces a heavier kick and ups the energy levels while slotting in an amazing dub influenced bass, which takes the track in an exciting new direction and will surely prove to be a big tune for many DJs for months to come.

Germany’s Vincenzo is one of the stars of the Hamburg club scene. His superb To Hume EP was released on Bedrock back in April 2011 to great critical acclaim. Originally spotted and guided by Steve Bug, he released his debut LP on the stylish Dessous label and is now an internationally respected producer. Spotters will already be well aware of Vincenzo’s excellent remix of Mutant Clan’s On And Amp (featured on John Digweed’s original Structures album) and his lush, piano laden deep house track for Bedrock 12 (Epic), which was a collaboration with Lovebirds (aka Sebastian ‘Basti’ Doering).

Crosstown Rebels get set to unleash one of the year’s most highly anticipated records ‘Can’t Leave You’, from one of the biggest stars of 2011, Maceo Plex. The flawless ‘Sweating Tears EP’, is a double headed dancefloor delight – with the equally as hot ‘Stop You Hate’ on the flip.

A1. Can't Leave You B1. Stop Your Hate D1. Can't Leave You (Tale Of Us Remix) (Digital Bonus)

Hot on the heels of his anthemic ‘Vibe Your Love’, superb ‘Your Style’ and killer ‘Life Index’ album (Crosstown Rebels) – Maceo Plex is one of the hottest properties in dance music right now!

‘Can’t Leave You’ is without doubt a smash record of epic proportions. Already winning over legions of fans after its outings at some of the world’s biggest dance events over the last few months, the demand for this record is now reaching fever pitch. ‘Can’t Leave You’ is Maceo Plex truly arriving at his signature sound. Eric’s fusion of lush instrumentals and disco bounce with a darker vein of rumbling bass – along with funky hand-claps and guitars and lively synth lines, amounts to an irresistible concoction of immaculately produced dancefloor disorder.

B-Side ‘Stop Your Hate’ is going to be a fellow summer terrace favourite with an epic build and disco breakdown that showcases Maceo Plex at the peak of his technical prowess. Just as stomping as ‘Can’t Leave You’ but with a murkier quality ‘Stop Your Hate’ is Maceo flexing his interplanetary funk muscle while delivering an affirmative message to the party crowd.

Label: SOUVENIR PLUS Cat no.: SOUVENIRPLUS09 Artist: Santé meets Alex Tepper Titel: Bare Bones/Few Words

Tracklisting:

 1. Santé meets Alex Tepper - Bare Bones
 2. Santé meets Alex Tepper - Few Words

Format: Digital Releasedate: 15.08.2011

Alex Tepper & Santé deliver an EP worthy of Ibiza beaches and late summer festivals. With two tracks full of kinetic energy, it's hard not to swing with the beat, or tap your feet to the groove.

Imagine a sunset on Ibiza, you're sitting on the beach, enjoying the view, to your left, the crowd is in mid swing. The sound you're hearing is Bare Bones. It begins with just that, a groovy mix of percussion and sound effects before a light house chords steps in. Voices on loops mix as the tensions get thick. We take a long break to analyze every bit of the track in its entirety, and jump right back in to the beat. This track is in a hot, open air style, charged with enough electricity to really move an audience at will, yet mild enough to set the mood for people to sit back and enjoy the atmosphere it creates.

Few Words jumps in, right where Bare Bones left the crowd, with a heavy groove, and bass drums dominating the field. Vocal patterns emerge, and take some weight off the bass before it all comes back in full swing with a sine bubbling out of silence. We build further with snares, claps and shakers, if you're not moving by now you might want to check your pulse in this next break. Still with us? Alright, then move back to the bass. Pure silence on the lips of listeners as this is the moment where every last body is into the groove of Few Words.

Damn that Audiofly remix is sweet, think I heard it in a set recently, the vocal is very familiar. I've never heard of Tale of Us, not that I'm up to speed with producers these days, but they have a nice sound.

Looks like different people, that just remix each other:

Life And Death are Manfredi Romano (aka DJ Tennis) + longtime soundtrack producer and Greg Oreck from NYC (one half of Thugfucker)

Tale Of Us are Matteo Milleri & Karm, who remixed Thufucker on the Life & Death label.

True !!!

Thought I'd written about them before :) very confusing lol.

From Kompakt :

"Over" is the undisputed highlight song of GusGus' brand new album "Arabian Horse". Right in time for high summer season we proudly present a remix package that takes no prisoners. After taking dancefloors worldwide by storm with their remix of Whomadewho's "Every Minute Alone", Italy's hottest export Tale Of Us & Tennis return with another mighty roller. That bassline definitely puts the deep back into deephouse and makes you wonder how sexy this summer will be.

My guess is that various label associates take turns, or just a coincidence? As usual I'm clueless.

Release notes for 11:11

11:11 - Tourist Trap (Guy Gerber & David K Remix) [Supplement Facts Records | SFR1111.5T] Guy Gerber's Supplement Facts introduces a new collaborative project shrouded in mystery and represented by the uncompromising figure '11:11' “The time in which different worlds collide”

Released on 11th of 11, 2011, ‘Tourist Trap’ has already been named ‘Essential New Tune’ by Pete Tong and championed by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1. A massive DC10 anthem this season, ‘Tourist Trap’ in its original form and many high-calibre remix incarnations has received relentless support from the likes of Sasha, Damian Lazarus, Art Department and MaceoPlex as well as 11:11 accomplices Jamie Jones and Visionquest.

From the dark, raw energy of the original to Visionquest’s atmospheric melodies Jamie Jone’s funked up dance-floor bomb, Soul Clap & The Family’s stoned cosmic odyssey, Renaissance Man’s eerie deep bass and Guy Gerber and David K’s stripped back tech-funk ‘Tourist Trap’ has been treated by house music’s elite. The intriguing force behind 11:11 will unleash next instalment ‘Let Go’ early 2012, already in Mixmag’s crop of essential new tunes. The number 11 is a double digit and therefore considered a Master or Power Number. In Numerology, 11 represents impractical idealism, visionary, refinement of ideals, intuition, revelation, artistic and inventive genius, avant-garde, androgynous, film, fame, refinement fulfilled when working with a practical partner. This can presently be perceived as a crack between two worlds. It is like a bridge that has the inherent potential of linking together two very different spirals of energy. As we unite together as One, bringing together our fragments of the key, we not only create the key, but we make visible the Doorway. DJ REACTIONS: Sasha: Really hard to choose which is best mix as they´re all amazing. Seriously good release Can find a place for each track, so full support on this package Thanks Sasha Richie Hawtin: download for r hawtin Damian Lazarus: thanks, will listen Dubfire: guy gerber remix is bomb
