His debut track on Temporum, "Metal", is a hypnotic, complex array of percussion and bass, building to a beautiful melodic peak. 02. Barem - Vanda [Rhythm Cult | RCM003]
Foremost minimal Techno producer Barem is next to serve up a compelling Three track EP for the ever more essential Rhythm Cult label and comes hot on the heels of EPs from Deadbeat and Greenville Massive amongst others.
Barem has appeared on Minus, Leftroom, Mindshare and Moon Harbour, and is a revered live performer who has headlined everywhere from DEMF to Mutek. Of course, he is a stylistically diverse producer who shows us his well honed production chops here once again.
First track ‘Vanda’ is awash with beautiful melodies as synthetic, intricate drums form a liquid groove down below. Both minimal but colourful, groovy but organic, it’s a charming track with plenty of summery warmth imbued within.
Next up, ‘Phaius’ is slightly darker and more late night, with its nagging sine waves, skittish percussion and flappy drums. Alien sound effects scurry across the face and wooden hi hats add another micro-groove with which dancers will easily relate.
Finally, ‘Lycaste’ gets all shimmery and shuffling with a soft edge cloud of hi hats, rolling drum fills and snares all coming over in jazzy fashion. Off time hits, synth blurts and Villalobos style details all characterise this cerebral track, and a killer, classic house bassline and wandering piano line both tie the whole thing together in style.
This is an EP of superb Techno that is stuffed with charm, emotion and organic textures that really makes you feel something whilst drawing you to the dance floor.

'Butterfly' was released in July 2014 as part of Ellen's 'Freak' EP in Bpitch Control [BPC300]
"Butterfly acts like the kick-off and not only host graceful 808 pinpricks, with the dreamy melody in the background a nostalgic aura raises that reveals Ellen's warmer side. Especially the bass rumble emphasises the physicality of her music in an impressive manner in short: pure love."

06. Dousk - Look Good Tonight (Nocturna Remix) [Proton Music | Promo]
'Look Good Tonight' was originally released in July 2013 as part of the Bisocial EP [PROTON0219].
"Opening track, "Look Good Tonight" epitomises Dousk's "focus on providing quality music", regardless of perceived style or genre. An opening comprised of lilting rhythm is soon energised by a shaker-driven pattern and hint of the cavernous bass vibrancy set to dominate throughout. This bass groove, locked to the accompanying percussive section and synth stabs, provides the foundation for carefully constructed layers of melody and effects to constantly direct the listener's attention. The addition of smouldering spoken vocal sample further adds to the deep, driving energy, perfectly representing a filmic quality and the uneasiness inherent in the EP title, accentuated through the cinematic breakdown."

08. Joris Voorn - The Wild (Nobody Knows LP) [Green | GR106LP]
Right from the moment go with the beat less introduction of "The Monk" the Amsterdam native provides a seamless fusion of organic and electronic sounds and despite an array of vocal features, the multilayered, classical ambiences throughout serve as a contrast reminder of who is at control of the mixing desk.
Through bright guitar, piano and synth combinations Voorn now has a wide range of instrumental talent at his disposal; the genius of creating music that's by turn as adventurous and as sweetly accessible as a pop song. His last single release 'Ringo' was one of the biggest tracks on Beatport for 2013, with huge radio support. A euphoric modern classic and unquestionable highlight of "Nobody Knows".
"Momo", with its simplistic, playful melodies is another standout personal addition to the album, its soothing and endearing touch unsurprisingly the result of a collaborative writing session between Joris and his father Joop Voorn.
Thrillingly visceral through tracks including "The Wild" and "Sweets for Piano" the LP forms a soundscape equally as dark, captivating and inspirational that makes for a unique listening experience.
Even in collaborations, the acoustic subtleties that sit beneath the electric pressures in tracks like "A House" that features Ninja Tunes Kid A are remarkable, a challenging level of compromise for any musician, yet in his latest full length album, that also features amongst others Matthew Dear on his own "Green" imprint he has achieved an impressive harmonic balance, and the results are staggering.
