i got to the club at around 1130 pm.. club was dead, but i arrived early because DD was supposed to start way early for an 8 set. well no DD early, instead resident dj farsheed was playing. farsheed played a really good opening set, he kept the crowd going and dropped some really good tracks. he played hard enough without overpowering the main act. :Respect:

finally at 130am ali came on..bamm awesome from song number one. ali played some peak time chugy progresive ... he was a bit off on a couple of mixes, but nothing mayor...he dropped some incredible bombs throughout the set ...put it this way i was having such a good time i wanted to drunk dial you fuckers to let you know  ...

they were mixing all cds (2 pioneer dvjs and 2 pioneer cdjs) see pics below

230 am sharam is coming on. my friends and i were saying "fuck if this is ali droping bombs, imagine waht sharam is going to do" sharam is on...first track GARBAGE, wait for the next track. second track GARBAGE. now im extremely pissed.. icouldn't believe the garbage coming out of the speakers ...the worst part about it was that the crowd was loving it...he played the killers and everybody went crazy (i found out last night that the killers were from vegas, go figure)... after half hour of junk, i went up to the dj booth and got his attention and gave him a one handed thumbs down. he just looked back down.... one song after that he played ...are you ready for this.. drop it like its fucking hot ... thats when i drew the line and started saying my goodbyes.. he actually mixed hip hop.. he played another hip hop after that :Puke Pon: anyway this was a very disapointing night........

Dude, I don't care who is mixing, and what they're mixing. You never give a dj a 'thumbs down' to their face.

Damn dude. You can talk shit about the music to a friend, but damn.

ahhaha when I first saw this thread I read it

Doesn't surprise me in the least. You can tell a 100% difference between Ali & Sharam. Sorry it was such a shitty night. Would like to see your pics but both are just a red X.

yup. show some respect bro. you don't have to like everything a dj spins, but give him the proper credit for taking a chance & playing something nobody probably expected. it's called "experimenting".

It's a tough call. If I were a musician, celebrity, athlete, etc I would be horribly offended if someone did that to me. But as a spectator and a fan, if I shell out the money that many of these artists command and they put on a horrible show, I should have the right to let them know. I mean, who goes to listen to the DJs that we enjoy to hear them put on 'Drop It Like It's Hot'?

hey i bet some of the guys that are saying show some respect are the guys that go to sporting games and yell at the refs and players

#361125Post 10 of 36

Re: Deep Dish @ ice las vegas review

Sharam sucks as a DJ. Ali should dump his ass and he might do even better. Maybe Sharam is a good producer and that's why he keeps him around.

#361137Post 11 of 36

that's funny because i've always heard it the other way around. That Ali what shit and Sharam was good.

Maybe Sharam was doing that because the owners made him do it. I've heard stranger things than that. We never really know until it is one of us that has to deal with these supressions.

#361158Post 12 of 36
hey i bet some of the guys that are saying show some respect are the guys that go to sporting games and yell at the refs and players
Exactly what I was gonna say.

#361180Post 13 of 36

Well, I?m gonna see them the 10th of March here in Lisbon, and expect nothing but the best. They?re coming to Portugal pretty often the last few months and they always play killer sets

In fact, most Dance music magazines here voted their SoundPlanet set as the best of last year.

I am always a bit amazed when people here say they play like shit. I don?t doubt it, but I?ve yet to witness it personally. Although I don?t mind having the occasional comercial track throw in for fun, so maybe that?s why.

Re: Deep Dish @ ice las vegas review

When Sharam plays, he always pulls some crazy shit like that. Thats why I respect him for not doing the norm. I wouldn't be surprised he played a hip-hop track b/c clubs there tend to be full of tourists. I assume many are not there for the music. So if he drops a hip-hop track, who cares. I bet it wouldn't happen anywhere else. :D

#361205Post 15 of 36

remember that a DJ is there to play a crowd. if you don't like what he's playing, and the rest of the crowd are, then chances are you're at the wrong gig.

going up and giving him a thumb down is unliekyl to achieve much. as a DJ you'll get people coming up pretty much every set you play asking for something else. i get so fucking sick of requests for hip hop/rnb/hard house/funky house/insert crap genre here. the thing is, its always some freak weirdo who wants to hear what HE/she wants... despite the fact that the whole rooms going off to the stuff you're playing already. i generally ignore them.

Good review man. Sorry to hear about Sharam. Not the first time I've heard this lately. Don't see a problem with giving him a thumbs down. Nothing like a bit of customer feedback!

#361321Post 19 of 36

i was with a group of about 10 people and we went to see DD especificaly, so yes we were at the right gig ... i get mad when djs /bands build a reputation playing a certain style that wins you over and then when you go support them they turn the tables on you... picture this ..you are a big metallica fan, you get tickets to their concert and when you get there they are playing britney spears...

the thumbs down wasn't ment to make him change what he was playing, it was meant as a means to voice my discontent..... put it this way, if i could go in the dj booth and have a conversation with him to let him know how i felt, then it would have been a different story

YOU ARE MY NEW BEST FRIEND, shows that you have balls and aren't afraid to let a dj know he's playing shit music

Re: Deep Dish @ ice las vegas review

Personally I think Ali is much better than Sharam. Ali has the technical skills and drops hot tracks continuously.. where as Sharam, to me is not so talented technically nor does he have god track selection.. Usually after some time passes and Sharam gets into the groove he gets pretty good.. thats just my 2 cents

Re: Deep Dish @ ice las vegas review

I really cannot understand while djs sometimes play so sucking tracks... in these days i am going crazy with deep dish on 99esc from january, that is a fantastic wicked set, i love it and has nothing to do with live @ la mania or other live/radio sets. also when they came to italy they didnt play bombs but only soft tunes (live @ il muretto). hope ali & sharam will spin more bombs, i love them when they rock! :-)

#371319Post 25 of 36

that's b.s. i say fuck yeah and give him the thumbs down. i garuntee NO ONE came there to hear drop it like it's fuckin' hot. he HAD to of known that some people we're definitely going to be pissed. if not, then he's fuckin' retard. that's whack man, sorry to hear that, they played great at sound-bar in chicago. last time i was there before that, my buddy actually climbed up the rail in front of the dj booth and paid digweed $20 to play "some dark shit". we couldn't stand the fluffiness any longer!

#371350Post 26 of 36

ali is good, sharam isn't so good... i thought this was general knowledge by now?

thumbs down on the thumbs down, but im sure it sounded like a good idea at the time

sorry you had a bad night :(

#371357Post 27 of 36

were you mad because it was a top 40 song or because the song sucked? there is many killer REMIXED top 40 songs and i'm betting this one wasn't the original and was not that bad yes sharam can play some weak songs......however if your such a dd fan you should have known that beforehand giving him the thumbs down is stupid if you were a dj yourself you'd know what its like....never can please everyone if dj's never experimented, the music scene would get stale fast

#371558Post 28 of 36

There is no excuse for making compromises for the sake of "tourists". Sharam is a cheap whore and we all know it.

Re: Deep Dish @ ice las vegas review

Deep Dish :RightOn: Its seems more and more people are hating on DD. Better for us DD fans, more room to dance. I understand their style and it is what it is. Everybody has this notion of going out and listening to Deep Dish of 5 years ago. Its not happening. Not many dj's play the same throughout their careers. They progress through different sounds and styles. And right now, I'm digging DD style. Not everyone likes it, but you can't please everyone. And Dj's usually throw in at least one track, where people say "what the hell is this?". So what. What people need to do is stop being so critical about music. Just go out, enjoy the tunes and have fun with friends. You shouldn't go out and always expect "The Best Set You've Ever Heard". :D

#371731Post 30 of 36

FUCK YEAH!!! I say give them the thumbs down! respect? are you joking?

mixing progressive house & hip-hop is not "experimenting" its GARBAGE!

what an asshat

i want a partial refund on your 2 cents...

Re: Deep Dish @ ice las vegas review

Listening to Shiloh's set where he plays "Drop Like its Hot" Remix. If this is the track Sharam played, its ok. The track is not that great, but I definitely have heard worst in the club. But when he dropped the track, and the crowd didn't really respond, then don't expect to hear it again from him. Definitely not a reason to say the night sucked cause of one track. :D

#372216Post 33 of 36

thumbs down to deep dish = just plain wrong.

they've done some serious stuff for the music you're here to listen to. :Naughty:

#373362Post 34 of 36

I liked how Justin incorporated 'Drop it Like it's Hot' in the Shiloh mix. Pitched up and it says it's the LP Remix. Definitely didn't sound like hippity hop. Very nice indeed.

#373411Post 35 of 36

it's vegas dude, what did you expect?!

on a different note, did anyone else see the monitor set-up in that dj booth (in the pictures)? holy shit, you won't get better monitoring sound than that. you've also got funktion-one dance stacks on the floor. what did you think of the sound?
