Buying prescription drugs on line is really asking for trouble. But according to the video floridaorange put up the counterfeits are coming into the mainstream as well. Popping up in hospitals and pharmacies. Would really like to know if that is a problem here as well. It's a very, very, big scary issue. Once again we have the sick and the poor being preyed upon. By both big pharma and the counterfeiters. This world can be a very ugly place .

^^^ How does it end up in hospitals and pharmacies? That's what I'd like to know. Surely these institutions are buying directly from the manufacturer or a reputable wholesaler buying directly from the manufacturer.

If this is not the case, how is this not regulated? Just seems a bit ridiculous something like this can happen.

well i can honestly say i,m the exact opposite of u di, if it wasnt for modern medicine god knows where the hell i would b in life tbh

on topic : i get emails from these online pharms just about every day, a few friends of mine have signed up with one or 2 of them in had their email accounts hijacked, these guys are completely ruthless

I saw this report the other month (I love 60 Minutes and try to watch it every single week. Yes I know I am old). My company spends millions of dollars a year combating this problem. Now I know for sure I can't say they are doing it for 100% altruistic motives, but this is becoming a bigger and bigger problem because the counterfeiters are becoming more and more sophisticated, and also just due to the outsourcing/commoditzation of drug production. When you need part of some plant from the Amazon rainforest or some other hard to obtain compound which only can be found in 1% of the world, it really becomes impossible to realistically police 100% of the supply chain, if you want to have any chance whatsoever of making this drug anywhere near affordable.

But this was pretty well documented in the report....It is scary. Also scary is the report about Glaxo and the terrible manufacturing process which was reported on a couple of months ago on 60 Minutes too.

LOL i was just going to say something about my country and as the video started and they start talking about it.

They just penalized selling counterfeit drugs with jail time a couple of weeks ago over here. Still i would never buy drugs online or in a non "safe" place. That should lower the odds of being poisoned a bit.

Try living in India or some third world country, being chronically ill and working so that you can aford some of the medicine peddled by the west. The reason "fake" (correct term is generic) medicine exists is the price tag US and European companies stick on the product. Quite honestly if the drug does what its supposed to do i.e. works, I have no problem with this.

Actually no, they are not talking about generic, generic medicines are the same as named drugs but out of licence . Fake are really fake !! Check that video and it tells you some of the ingredients and it isn't pretty !!

what shocks me most is that the big companies ( legitimate ) dont seem to be testing some of the compounds they buy and put into the medicine they produce before they actually put it in the medicine
