Steve Lawler's VIVa MUSiC will release [I]Lights Out – Decade[/I] this May.

The fourth edition of the mix series—a double CD album—will be comprised of exclusive releases and re-edits by Lawler himself. "In this day and age, a mix compilation needs to be special in some way, as DJ mixes are freely available all over the internet," Lawler explained ahead of the release. "I want my fans to get a mix of tracks that are unique to its own arrangement and composition. When you buy the tracks as singles, people will get the original version of the track which in some cases may sound very different. Only with the version on this mix will they get my re-arranged versions—this is, and always has been, the tradition of my Lights Out albums."

Sounds like every mix that gets released these days. Unfortuatley many CD's with this concept are shite.

He could do 1000 re-edits and remixes etc and it would still be crap IMO. Here's an idea Steve - find 20-25 good tracks and then mix them into 2 cd's of music. Dont worry about the re-editing etc as it won't make any discernable difference to the end product.

I think he and many other DJ's moved into that Tec House sound and its fucking horrible. That mix he did from that restaurant in Russia last year was brilliant

I liked parts of the first CD... but overall, I don't think I will be playing it very often. Haven't heard the 2nd yet.

This mix is average at best. I was really hoping it was going to be similiar to his old. I am very disappointed in both cds.

Like the rest i am not too happy with this compilation.. The 2 CDs have some good tracks..they are nice selected and mixed,but they are nothing special and UNIQUE.. i am not sure if i'm gonna listen to them again lol on the other hand i am diggin his live sets lately-his Space Ibiza Opening set is pure fire :

This! I wasn't thrilled with this release either but his live mixes are always on constant rotation. Problem is always the same. Everyone starts playing the same sound and it becomes bland but for me his live mixes have alwyas given me a feeling of warm happiness and the urge to dance my ass off. Just wish we got more of them.

Used to love Lawler, my podcast is even named "Lights Out", not strictly because of him, but also in part because of his series, but just a look at the tracklist told me I was not interested in this whatsoever. Completely generic, boring, run of the mill, "beatport tech house" names all over the place. These reactions do not surprise me.

Frankly, asking money for this is insulting. There´s like 20 DJ´s on MS who could come up with something better and with more personality.
