It was mentioned in another thread, so I thought I just might create a dedicated thread for it :

I've made a winamp visualization plugin that imho works quite well with techno / (psy)trance and the likes. You can find it at http://www.beatharness.com

It uses live-camera-input (if connected), videos, realtime effects & transitions etc. Effects & transitions can be user-scripted.

You can (or worse ;), you are advised to) dump your own content (videos, images) in the content-dirs to create that extra "Yippeee!!!"-feeling. :)

Have fun with it, and let me know what you think !

Re: Techno visualization - gentlemen, start your beamers ! :

well it seems my vide card or whatever doesnt support dynamic textures? hrmm oh well..

#356786Post 7 of 21

yah, you need a pretty decent videocard to run it, sorry about that :)

#356810Post 8 of 21

I was the one that started the thread :p

And yea, highly recommended vis!! It's the only one that I've used for longer than a day. And it works great with House music too, so don't think it's only meant for techno guys.

Some really great effects...and yes, you need at least a Geforce 1 video card.

Led: is there a way to use this plug-in on other MP3 players? A Friend of mine uses Quintessential Player or something like that and would love to use your plug-in.

Led: I downloaded this and was impressed by what you said it could do, unfortunately I couldn't get it to work. I've got an ATI Radeon 9600 with 128MB, so I thought it should work.

Anyway, I'm involved in a night in London: www.twisted-melon.com, and I'm interested to see if we could get this going in a club environment. let me know.

What was the problem HOS? I sometimes get a problem with it, where it tells me that I ran out of memory or something like that, but I just close winamp and run it again, and it's fine. Also make sure you got the latest version of DX9 and drivers for your card.

#356829Post 11 of 21

it must be the dx9, cos i can't get anything except a blank screen :?

#356834Post 12 of 21

Is it black? Try Pressing Shift+N....i get a black screen sometimes...as if the visualization doesn't load.

#356836Post 13 of 21

i get some of the visulizations but they don't work right, they look like a scrambled tv pic. i reckon it's my video card, time to get the latest drivers

Re: Techno visualization - gentlemen, start your beamers ! :

this is really cool.

i wonder how much more complicated the lighting system from PULSE was??? especially when they did comfortably numb and all the guitar effects in run like hell? ever see that?

i want that in a club the next time someone drop the bagiuo track or any other wild tune that never ages.

That was my mistake, if you get the latest update (only 400kb download, don't worry) it's fixed. Sorry about that :)

Sorry, I don't have the specs for the ATI 9600 here so I can't tell you if it should or shouldn't run on it.. Are you absolutely sure you have the latest directX-version installed ?

Anyway, about the clubthingie - contact me at led@beatharness dot com if you like.

hmmm, can't get it to work either. i got a pretty good soundcard... i get nothing but a black screen.... this sucks!! ;)

#357096Post 19 of 21

That looks pretty cool. Might have to check this out some time.

#357156Post 20 of 21

Update : A new version is out. Yeahyeah, so what..? :)

Imho most important improvement : You can now specify where your videos & images are (you can add as many video / image directories as you want), and beatharness will use them too.

No need to copy files anymore - just point beatharness to your "My Pictures" folder or whatever :)

<insert smartass remark about pr0n-dir here> ;)

BeatHarness couldn't care less about your soundcard :D Just make sure you have a spiffy videocard with the latest drivers and the latest DirectX 9 !!!

Oh, and for other readers - read the post above this one about the new update ! :)
