Re: The Goa Mix - 10 Years On / A Retrospective
nice write up on the classic mix :)
i can't believe someone is writing something good about the most hated dj on this board
Damn does anyone have that mix? I haven't heard it in ages.
I have it, I just heard if for the first time recently, and I thought it was good. Maybe it had more of an impact at the time? I dunno, I was bumping to Sasha back in 94.
i havet "two-" at soulseek
both hours?
I've got both hours, both the original Essential Mix (only on tape not bothered ripping it) and also a pretty rare double CD released by Cream in the UK a year or so after it came out - minus Tong and the jingles.
An absolute classic mix, you really have to wonder where it all went wrong for Oakey. What the fuck is he playing at?
I will make sure to check out your piece Matt.

that is a great piece mate.. i really enjoy reading stuff about "the way it is".
he is a tosser now, but oakie back in the day was one of the best.. imo
Damn what a classic mix. have not heard that in ages. Might have to pop it in tonight while I try to do my taxes. HAHA. I am sure I will probably not get to far before I start bopping around on my chair. Great mix, what the hell has happen to oakey since then. Now that he is just a big greedy bastard that sold his soul to corporate ammerica. Dumbass.
Please not another Oakie was great until he decided he was the son of God thread. PLEASE.
I like this music!!!Thanks the site!!!
This classic oakie mix someday will be a piece of museum, its amazing..
Yeah its a timeless set, up there with the best, still love that Goldie tune.
the mix is a classic - oakey was a true pioneer in his day. He used to do a show on a local radio station to me where a traditional story or fairy tale was read out and he provided the sound track, it was really cool - great eclectic mix of styles, everytihng from trance to hip hop to rock to ambient. All fitting really well to the story, great chilled out sunday afternoon listening!

Totally.......
Love him or hate him you gotta love this....
Recently managed to aquire the proper essential mix version after YEARS of searching for it.
This set has been the sound track to many a turbo/cloud/waterfall/gravit bong/bucket.
Caution tho.....may cause tears of sadness/happyness if gettin high alone as some of its truely that powerful.
Re: The Goa Mix - 10 Years On / A Retrospective
Shit I just realized I've lost this set, can some one share it to me on soulseek??
thx
and also a pretty rare double CD released by Cream in the UK a year or so after it came out -
It actually wasn't released by Cream. Oakey and a guy called Spencer Baldwin who was working for Perfecto at the time put it out, have you seen the comment on the back "Beware of bootlegs". They were taking the piss, it's a bootleg
Great mix though, the one and only good mix Oakenfold has done.
Hey I havent heard thees one....someone hook me up, pls :)
even though i don't like oakie, this is still a good set, i remember listening to it a few years back.
