As much as I love Firefox, I do have one issue with it -- when I go to the [ms] web site (or [me] or [mp]), I have to log in about 2/3 of the time, even when I have checked the "Remember me" or the "Log me in automatically" box.

I don't remember having this problem when I was using IE. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to fix it?

Gracias.

i'm not a bright guy when it comes to computer stuff. but it may be a problem with your cookie settings.

#353297Post 3 of 17

Yea that is weird. Clear your cache, and cookies. Then try it again, hit remember me and let me know.

I've never had a problem and I've been using FF for about 8 mos now.

Right on. I've done this and it seems to be working OK so far. Thanks for the tip, civic...

Yeah that's weird... I wonder what kind of false cookie got mixed up in your cache of stuff... Maybe a sibling or friend tried to log in to [ms] with a different user/pass than yours? Who knows, because as other people have mentioned, I've been using FireFox for quite a while and I've never come to the page and had to log back in... even after a 2 week vacation

There is that part int he options that says

...keep cookies...

                     until they expire
                     until i close firefox
                     ask me everytime

I just figured this out too.

BOOST UP YOUR FIREFOX

1.Type ?about:config? into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

  1. Alter the entries as follows:

Set ?network.http.pipelining? to ?true?

Set ?network.http.proxy.pipelining? to ?true?

Set ?network.http.pipelining.maxrequests? to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

  1. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it ?nglayout.initialpaint.delay? and set its value to ?0?. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

seems to be working for me give it a go and see what you think

I read somewhere that one of these, not sure which one, is bad.... It will make FF run faster in the short term, but hammers the webserver that runs the sites you are viewing so basically they get slower and slower. Can't remember any more detail than that, but it's out there on the web somewhere.

Someone who knows please explain it properly....

Glad its working for you guys. :Naughty:

Apparently it can have some issues with flash and java but other than that its all good.

As for the pipelining the hardlimit is 8 so like that setting of 30 actually gets ignored, I have mine set to 8.

In normal tcp operations there is whats called a threeway handshake for transfers. I ask for something, then wait for you to say "ok here it comes", then I say "ok I got it."

What pipelineing does is request all its shit with out waiting for the "ok here it comes" first, so instead of doing a 3way for each bit of data. It asks for it all at once. So its like one 3way handshake per 4 or 8 items.
